I just cancelled my sub the day before it went free to play. All I can say is that if you want to actually enjoy the game, you need to go with the VIP plan and continue to pay the 14.99 subscription. Maybe if you'd never tried it, you could live with the free restrictions. But once you've had a taste of things that should just be inherent (like bag slots, traits, and full auctions) you won't be happy with anything less than all of it.

I'd rather raid plane of sky than play LOTRO.

I tried the F2P today, didn't like it, felt lacking.

And I already got tired of EQ2's F2P. Nothing good is free.

This. The full game is great, but I think Turbine is really shooting themselves in the foot. Theoretically, you can (eventually) get the full game experience by using "Turbine Points" you receive from completing quests, deeds, etc., to "buy" upgrades. The problem is Turbine is charging for almost every damn thing, and the point costs compared to the points you receive while playing is insane. The monthly charge is much better deal, and you can get 3 months for $30.

I didn't uninstall it quite yet. I just hit level 20 in this game and Skirmishes seem pretty fun.

They're basically a scaling instance you can do. It's pretty neat.

The exchange rate is 1000 to 1, as compared to 10 to 1 in EQ. 2 gold is a shitload of money.

Aye, 2 gold in Rings is about half of what it costs to get end-game epic items off the auction house. The money goes a long way in some cases, but prior to F2P the standard horse alone was 4g. So it that's still the same, you'll be walking or riding the really slow one until you pay to unlock that restriction..
