I played vztz 1.0. It was my first eqemu server in 2007. When I joined, it was ran by Daxum, with item loot.
he was a realy cool guy, liked him alot.

(population doubled the moment he took item loot out, just saying)

So you played RZ with item loot and have expressed preferring that system.. You played VZTZ 1.0 with item loot...

How is it Red 99 isn't item loot with classic RZ level range? I mean it's obvious Rogean isn't running the show, wouldn't the next logical conclusion be that you are??

Not trolling, serious questions.
That's the way we should have started it, then if it was a problem, could have been removed. I don't think it is feasible to add item loot to an existing geared playerbase.

So why was code never handed down from server to server and people have to fix the same bugs over and over?

All of the guildwars code was ported into eqemu, much of our loz/rz code changes have been handed in, hell were still trying to get someone to port in a diff we have for MQ2 exploits right now. Just no one will do it.

Much of the VZ/TZ code was passed out and looked at and what was worth it was ported in from what I can tell, and remember.

The big issue is once its in the main code someone goes and fucks with it, and breaks everything. So next box up has to fix all the crap that someone borked. We had to fix countless bugs that we had fixed and ported in with the guildwars source this way.

Well, thanks for the response at least. I would agree that it'd be detrimental to add item loot at this point for Red 99. It would require a new server or complete wipe, and with teams being the next topic of discussion and a "no wipe" policy for Project 1999 servers, I'm guessing I won't see a RZ-style ruleset from this project.

Which saddens me. Hacking is a huge hurdle to any servers attempting pvp with item loot, which is severely lessened with the detection methods and staff involvement here. I don't feel any other existing emu teams could have pulled it off like this one could have.

Could be solved by people just playing the game for fun but no way.

Start by asking why Alonouva isn't releasing pathing to eqemu and to p99 only.

The pied pipers of eqemu developers wouldn't allow it!
