Besides, I'm pretty sure selling characters isn't "classic".
Well you would be wrong then.

I remember when i was 14, logging onto ebay and typing in everquest and people sold lvl 30's+ all day. 50's well equipped we usually in the 300+ range.

I never bought one because well, i was 14 and i dont have 300 dollars.

Kinda glad i didnt.

Selling chars is VERY classic. Is is the right thing for this server or would i like to see it? No.

People also used Macroquest and ShowEQ... All against the rules. This server is supposed to be as close to classic as possible so... selling or swapping accounts being permissable isn't "classic". It's allowed here but it IS a deviation from the way the classic servers were run.

It wasn't allowed in classic in part at least because they couldn't make money off people selling accounts. I dont really see the problem here. If someone's a douche on a character, they sell it, the buyer changes the name, maybe the buyer isn't a douche? Isn't that good? Sure, then the seller is free to make a new character to be an ass on, but that would quickly become known if he or she were that bad (or he or she wouldn't be an ass this time around, again, good). And its not like the seller couldn't do that anyway without selling the account. Oh no! Now he has platinum too!

Just not seeing the sky-is-falling problem here.

Agree or Disagree -

Toon sales deter power levelers from taking your mobs.

People buying and selling characters for plat doesn't effect me or my game in any way. I really don't care. Let people do what they want.

I really hate the idea that name changes are being done so easily. I had mentioned this before. In classic, a name change would always get rejected unless it violated the naming policies. If the player was level 20+, a name change request was even harder to get through. The name would have to be very offensive etc. The reason for this was to prevent asshole players from slipping off a bad reputation (kill stealing, training, ninja looting, just being an ass) via a name change. If someone is going to buy a character, they should be stuck with the name and name changes in general should not happen unless it is highly warranted due to policy violations. The only other name changes which were allowed were surname changes due to a wedding between two characters or a change to add the apostrophe into Dark Elf names.

Just curious if this is true, I was told that first name changes are happening via the petition forum.

I think the devs need to take a good hard look at the EC forum. Is this seriously your vision for the servers future?
So basically..

"I was told something and I'm believing it and are now telling the devs that they need to do something"

Right, thats exactly the tone of the post, it wasnt inquisitive at all...

And from this post Rogean, Id assume you are implying that name changes are NOT happening then? Is that the answer to the original question?

Part of me thinks that selling chars should be allowed, but name changes should be disallowed. I think thats the best option, because like stated above, on classic you couldn't simply /petition and have your name changed. Your name was who you were, and people would know whether to group with you or train you. IMO if you want to buy a char you should have to stick with the name it has. Also you should not be able to change your first name, because your reputation should stick with you for the entirety of your play. This is a very social/community based game and simply changing your name can really effect that.

That being said, I really don't care that much whether they disallow or allow any of this. I don't find myself in Kedge saying, man I wish people weren't changing their names right now. So, whatever happens is fine with me, but personally I think name changes shouldn't be allowed.
