Pumping a fresh water lake full of salt to kill the invasive salt intolerant fish is definitely the way to go about making it a beautiful fresh water lake again.

Unfortunately this server only reaches a peak of 200 population which is very top heavy and only occurs when end game content is up.

Normal exp, the journey etc is fun. I get it and I approve of it. IF there is a population for it. It worked 2 years ago when there was enough people to foster it, but unfortunately a ton of other factors caused the pop to dwindle down to the hard cores only. Now we have to work with what we have.

It would have been much more beneficial to replace the 2x exp with group bonus and not rip it out and wait to see the effects. That's just my opinion.

But we will see what happens. Those of us that have been here since the beginning have seen our sandbox peak and valley over and over and over.

All we can do is hope and have faith at this point...

What im trying to say is that everyone here has this mentality that (a) the game doesn't even begin until you are max level raiding and (b) getting to max level is just an annoying pain in the ass. Well unfortunately for u, original EverQuest was not designed to be a rush to the end-game like WoW. EverQuest was one game that was actually about the journey, and not the destination.

Think about it - if they made XP so hard that even Tune could only achieve level 40 and the rest of the population was 10-20, FS weapons would be the epic weapons, etc. What I'm saying is that this game is supposed to be played at all levels, it doesn't need to be played at max level / max gear.
Yeah, this was true, WHEN EQ WAS NEW. EQ was a journey when you didn't know every nook and cranny of the world. When people would wander around the world just to explore it, yes, it was a journey.

But you are delusional if you think ANYONE on Red99 is here for the Journey. They are here for the PvP.

If they wanted to make FS like Epics, they would have made the game end at level 40. But they wanted the PvP in Kunark, they wanted PvP in Velious. Stop acting like the game is still new and exciting. Its not. RED99 is about the PvP. There is no mid/low PvP because of LACK OF POPULATION.

Making the game un-enjoyable for the vast majority of people, is NOT a solution.

No one has the time or inclination to spend 6+ hours a day playing EQ. And if THAT is the kind of person you want in EQ, congrats on your 80 person server, you have exactly what you want. Sorry that most of us want a game where we can log in, spend a few hours feeling like we accomplished something and continue on with our lives. Candy Crush makes 1 Million dollars a day, because people accomplish things. If people had to waste 5 days on the same level, bet your ass the game would have 80 people playing... But they don't make people do that, and they have millions of players.

I find it laughable you are happy with the population the way it is now. The game is so bloody stagnant that its damn near unplayable.

But guess you are right, games need to be like EQ in order to succeed and be fun... League of Legends, DOTA2, WoW, Path of Exile, Diablo 2/3 are all massive failures because people can log in, play the game, enjoy the game, and accomplish something in a timeframe that works for them.

Guess the same 80 people playing Red99 mean that the game is better than the billions of hours, millions of people have spent playing League.

Go figure.

thats actually a really good idea, remove all exp bonus but implement a crazy group bonus. like every extra member of the group gives +50% exp.

that was one of the best things about old school FF11.

grouping in ff11 was 10X faster than soloing

removes PL'ing and forces people to group and work together, or just pl groups i guess

100% accurate, minus the part where your last sentence should end with 'by groups of people working together in their tattered armor and fine steel weapons'.

I'm not goung to repost everything I already said in other thread, but as an oroginal '99 live player, I cant tell you how wrong you are. I am ALL about the experience. I leveled every single class in the game to 40's on live between 99 and whenever LDoN went in, think that was last expansion I did. I love meeting a new squad of newbs, banding together, being codependent to succeed, and thriving. This isnt it though. Here, I know almost every single 20ish player on server and constantly who all friends to try and get more help, because its hell. Do you have any freaking idea how slow if not impossible it is to level solo/duo on melee dps? I engage every mob at 50% with bind... what level do you think I will hit with at best, one other dps with me doing the same thing? 1 mob every 5 minutes and no xp fails. Not because I want easy mode... because I want hard mode with friends. See the original thread GMs locked for full commentary, but you're wrong. Glad you madd this thread though, other new one got locked before I got to quote you and tell you this.

Im sure tons exploit bonus xp with PL and teinks, but for newbs, its still barely enough to sustain forward movement. I havecold hard cash thay says tempest and myself are at 2 days played each at lvl 22/23 atm. Yeah sooooo crazy fast. Better throttle us newbs back....

The journey of soloing light blue mobs by yourself for 5 months to get to level 40 sounds amazing.
