Servers going down and staying down way past ETA is so very classic.

It isn't something that is done on purpose (although it'd be an awesome troll if it was). Like when you go to a restaurant with a wait and the hostess says 30 minutes and then a few tables decide to sip on an extra bottle of wine so you end up waiting an hour do you go and cuss out the hostess because she couldn't predict an undefinable ETA for you? Same with computers, unexpected shit happens.

I'm going to give you an unidentified calculus problem, before you see what the problem is, please give me the estimate for how long it will take you to solve it.

Verant used to patch for 9 hours plus, we're lucky its not that long.

People that complain about the downtime and demand some sort of "accurate" estimate are so ridiculous.

All the white-knighting in this thread makes me lol. Everyone knows it's free we don't need to be reminded. Free or not I don't think asking for an ETA is out of line. Nor is expecting some form of an update when downtime exceeds the given ETA 12 times over. Stop being tools.

I remember one time I pretended to be sick from school so I could play EQ all day, I got logged in and immediately met with an emergency patch with 30 min ETA. Servers came back up at 4:00pm. Instant karma.

the only people who care are now doing the same thing IRL they would be doing in pixels anyways... sit there, poopsock like mad, and camp the server select screen like a boss.
