They could easily have a big investor(s) standing by to close the difference at the end or fund out of their own pocket to avoid losing all previously pledged money.

I don't think they care if a project fails or succeeds, they just care about kickstart, someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Either way let's see what happens at the very end then we can all stop guessing.

I do hope it succeeds though because I'd hate to try this game out in 3 years from an investor's point of view.

In the pantheon comments section, someone wrote:

"The only reason I'm posting this is to get a straight answer about this Kickstarter, right now. I know that if it doesn't go through, they will approach other avenues for funding, that has been answered many times."

So if that is true then failing the kickstarter wouldnt necessarily mean that the project wont be funded.

This was posted by the PR devs not long ago in the KS comments. So there will be other ways to fund this. I don't think they are gonna let this project slip into nothing...well i'm am hoping.

It would make it harder to find funding than say a successful kickstart under your belt.
