I don't think you understand what the camp even is. The shamans have a couple drops that people want, the guard drop nothing significant. The guy who had the camp was killing the center shamans and leaving the guards on the outside.

If the guy asking for a CC wanted to kill the guards on the outside, the guy that had the shamans camped would have let him.

I will say that i have shared this camp in that way. And No i was not the one killing the middle spawns I was the lowbie killing the guards.
They are decent exp and a good spawn rate it is an excellent exp camp for someone in their mid 20's.
But not everyone would share even if they were not killing the guards.
I have had a few say no you can't have the guards.
Know what I did. i said ok not a problem and moved on.

To be fair, camp rule #6 should probably be a lot more specific about what "AFK camping" means. Most people see just the words of the rule and don't make the extra leap to actually apply the rule. Once you point out that it's really impossible for a class without a pet to "camp" while AFK, then they usually begin to understand but by then it's too late because they're already entrenched in their argument.

As long as you are there to kill the spawns when they spawn, you can afk all fucking day if that's how long it takes them to spawn.

This is 100% true, until the first time he doesn't engage immediately upon spawn. Then someone else can take and keep the camp as long as they continue to engage immediately upon spawn.

I'll AFK as much as I feel like it between spawns in a camp. There is zero reason I should be there and answering CC is especially not one of them. I was anything but a dick to your friend. I even offered him the guards and explained why I didn't answer his CC.

He went on to claim he could steal my camp because I'm going AFK between spawns, accused me of boxing, tried to claim I shouldn't have this camp because it's a mid level camp, and lectured me on server rules that have NOTHING to do with the situation he was trying to apply them to.

Your friend is the only dick. I especially find it funny that during his whole tantrum he ignored the lower level Mage I was grouped with who asked me nicely about camp and I offered to group with him and give him all loot except Batskull earrings and the exp since mobs were green. He got a ton of shit including a couple Chipped Bone Bracelets and experience and your friend got told to shut the fuck up. I wonder why that is?

AFK camping does not mean what these people think it means.

AFK camping is pretty much a mage parking a pet to get aggro, and the pet does all the work while said mage snoozes or reads a book.

Answering a CC call is just courtesy...it's annoying, but hey. Part of the game.

Wee gnome didn't do anything wrong...but any spawned mob that is unengaged IS fair game.
