Get a SoW buff. Run... nuke... run... nuke. Full-speed kiting. Takes some practice, but it works fine so long as you can stay ahead of the mobs. I've even quad kited that way, when I was feeling especially brave.

I remember joining RI shortly before y'all started Thermo.
Good to see another torvonnite up in here.

Don't remember me? I was Zetal, first vah shir war with lightsabers ^_^
Hey you! Of course I remember you! Yeah I was sick of trying to get people to show up for non-mandatory raiding with RI - That was why I started Therm with JaneJett. When I proposed mandatory raiding to the guild the backlash was so overwhelming that I just handed leadership off to one of the officers that wanted to keep it casual and let JJ talk me into making Therm. Was good times!

I need to get over to the old torv boards and let folks know about this server, as I'm sure some would love re-living the classic era...if anyone still reads those boards, that is.

Sorry for thread hijack..../wizard on

Full speed kiting gets pretty intense, especially if youre quadding.

One thing everyone here can agree on is the Staff of Temp Flux is a key piece of equipment. Along with the range finding as mentioned, it is how you pull when youre quadding, plus the debuff is nice.

Another thing I dont think has been mentioned is youll definitely want to grab the JBoots. I got incredibly tired of begging SoWs or having those SoW pots eat up my inventory space. Jboots are fantastic, but they can be a pain to get.

Oh, and learn when to run away from a kite. I know it sucks when you spent all that time killing him, but if youre at 10m and 50%hp, unless he is JUST about to die its probably better you run away and keep the 10% death penalty.

Absolutely mandatory pieces of equipment for a wizzy.

And I should mention that you can do both quests at the same time. If I remember correctly, one of the drops you need for the Staff of Temp Flux is a lambent stone. Well it just so happens that the sand giants in SRo drop lambent stones regularly. And SRo also happens to be one of the places where you can camp the AC for JBoots. So it's nice that you can knock off two drops for two quests at the same time there.

One additional use for the Temp Flux staff is kind of unorthodox, but I've used it a few times in the past. You can rapidly spam it on a mob for when you want to pull aggro off of someone else in your party. I know it sounds weird for me to be saying that a wizzy would be -trying- to pull aggro in a group, but it's situational. For example, I remember a few occasions when the MT died and the mob switched aggro to the cleric. So to get him off the cleric, I started spamming the Temp Flux debuff until my wiz got bumped up pretty high on the hate list. The mob disengaged from the cleric and came at my wiz... at which point she just started shadow stepping and so forth until the cleric could recover and rezz the MT. Or in solo situations, it's a great way to keep people from stealing your pulls (***cough druids in CS cough***). Same trick: just spam the Temp Flux staff and you'll generate so much hate that nobody will be able to grab your mobs. Like I say, it's situational... but it's an additional option.

At lvl 25 is the Karanas the best bet for soloing? I've played around in dungeons but they are difficult to solo effectively that I've seen. Even gobs in OOT are too hard to break.

If yer lookin to solo - I found SK to be a great place 20-30. Plus you can alwayz /ooc for a duo partner (NEC/MAG are awesome as a duo), and just go to town.

Plus there are usually aviak/centaur groups u can join - and occasionally people heading to Paw.

The fact u can bind yourself at EC tunnel for buff refreshes (Clarity/SoW), and then port to NK And BAM yer right back in SK....it's great. At 29 it makes it easy to start your own Paw groups since u can port to NK.

Research Column of Lightning. Run to Everfrost, bind near the perma entrance. Quad Mammoths using full-speed kiting. Get sow from EC by porting to Nro, and gate back to continue grinding.

Enjoy the awesome xp.

I was able to do this from 26-29. It's probably the best xp (and money, since the mammoths drop tusks that sell for 10pp, although they weigh a ton) you'll find.

Only backlash is that it's dangerous. Buy HP gear if you haven't already. Because of Column of Lightning's longer cast time, you have to be absolutely perfect in execution of a full-speed quad or you'll get whacked. I had around +200hp through my gear and a very high AC for a caster of my level as a buffer, and only died once because I got stubborn. I had a chance to port out, but I tried to pull off a miracle.

Plus, you're close to perma and can communicate with some of the farmers there in case a wizard heart drops.

Tried full speed quading in SK at aviaks last night. Wow, what a rush! Keys were keeping Leatherskin up and SoW on. A friend helped me get Staff of Transdescence, so I used it to range the pack.

Question, where do I quad kite in Classic up to 50? I'd like to avoid doing guards if possible.
