That's a valid point but I think the entire argument is a generalization all together.

What a person wants is based on the individual. From a cultural standpoint however, in the U.S. the "bad boy" attitude is reinforced. I live in a very "Jersey Shoreish" community. Living in a drunken fantasy and being a douche bag is very acceptable behavior.
