I've yet to see an HG in Rathe not drop any platinum but it is certainly less than it was onlive.
On average the amount dropped is somewhere between 8-33pp per giant, an occasional fine steel (that you can see), a lore lambent stone on about 1 in 7 (sells for about 4pp) and research components. I'm not going to complain since HGs are soloable (in a practicle sense) long before Seafuries are but yeah, the money gained from them is not what it used to be on live. I remember killing them with a full group back in the day (I think I was level 29 or 30) and everyone earned some decent money doing it.

If I remember correctly, Hill Giants could drop up to 50ish plat. They were the mob EVERYONE tried to camp for $$.
Oh and while xping on Druids in WC I killed the wandering Hill Giant there and he dropped 22p for me.
