Both guilds are full of new players now but the hate stems from the original box players. Nihilum controls all the pixels and Azrael are full of the players with too much pride to get on their knees and beg for pixels. The pride was built up since before the server launched, with players from different EQ communities talking trash about who would dominate the server.
Since then friends have betrayed each other, people have lost all dignity, groups of friends have been split up, etc. and Azrael/Nihilum is the divider line as far as what side you are currently on. When someone pisses you off on one side you join the other to get back at them. It's an on going soap opera.
Most of this hate has been passed down from generation to generation as new players join the server, people are hated with either guild tag from the opposing guild without even knowing why, and ultimately this hate is the only thing to keep people occupied while they are grinding the same content for 18 months.
