You guys are all aware that society was fine before the use of electricity? Some of the worlds greatest scientists and thinkers were born before the light bulb. There were peaceful Native American cultures that had cities larger than London with no discernible crime rate or energy sources outside of lumber?

Outside of a mass extinction event, society will not degrade enough to get rid of the use of pen and paper and knowledge. There is enough knowledgeable, scientific, resourceful people to never completely wipe out the use of power generation. Water Mills, biofuels, human /animal generated power will always exist in society in some form or another.

And if it is a mass extinction? Well you really won't have anything to worry about will you? Unless you are the 5% of the population that would survive some sort of viral outbreak.

And if its nuclear, we are all dead. There is no escape from it.

People with no guns would be suddenly trying to make some "redneck" friends. Lol. The whole survival thing is serious business for some people these days. The world is going to shit and if there was some kind of collapse eventually, it's probably a good idea to have some kind of backup plan, even if it's just extra food/water and something to defend yourself with. But of course, if you feel that way you get told to take off the tinfoil hat or get called a redneck. Those people would be first to die imo. I keep an open mind without being crazy about it.

Electricity and modern communication is a culmination of thousands upon thousands of years of progression. It is not the end all be all of human existence. I admit, people were bastards in the past, but people are bastards now. The world is CONVENIENT now(look at population charts post air conditioning). But society was not a cesspool of awful humanity you seem to think it was. Music, Art, Science, all still happened in pre industrial society, hell it happened pre LITERATE society. Outside of the dark ages(plague), and pockets of repressive(aka religious) societies, we have ALWAYS progressed. Humanity in itself has the capacity to always get better.

Every story you hear about the past is usually a calculated lie. We continually make up arc typical stories to make it seem like things are "better" or "terrible" back then. The truth is ALWAYS in between. Example: That Roanoke colony that went missing? They moved in with the native american's. Which is abhorrent to most euro centrist individuals.
Also as I said Cahokia had 40k individuals living in a society when England was still living in their own shit. They planted/cut trees, built an agrarian society(stockades!), had art, had culture. All without a written language that we can discern! Vikings had a cut off colony in America for 500 years! Rough and tumble asshole Vikings!
