dude i saw metallica twice in the 80s, slayer in '91... neurosis, anthrax, megadeth, any number of small venue punk/metal moshes ... fugazi at cal .. pantera and sepultura half a dozen times each
i've seen more thrash metal pits than i care to remember, and nothing today can even begin to compare
nowhere did i say the gogol pit was especially amazing, but it was, in fact, a pit.

a pit that exhausted you? how? with that list of bands you should still be in some kind of moshing shape sir. still gonna laugh at gogol bordello being a pit, that's like teletubbies and violence

track three especially, whole thing is good. best 20 person pit i've been in too.

i'll be 35 any day now. my first concert was metallica @ the cow palace in sf for their tour of and justice for all .. i was 11, on crutches with a broken leg, and alone (the 17 year olds my idiot father let me go with were "frying" and lost me immediately [frying in quotes coz i had no idea wtf it meant back then, except that drugs made you think you could fly, according to D.A.R.E.]). Of course I made my way up to the front, coz that's where you can see best right? well, my first experience of a pit, EVER, was being eleven and on crutches, seeing one open behind me as the opening chords of battery graced the darkness around us.

officially, my first concert would be brooks and dun with trish yearwood (not sure from memory) at the rodeo when i was 7.

first pit was friends' band playing at a local very small venue called java jazz

this was shortly after highschool graduation...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EpbRF5z2AUM

Without reference, I assume you to be referring to yourself.

First concert was Ted Nugent in '04. Last concert was Megadeth in... maybe '08?

And in-between those two concerts, I saw GWAR like 5 times. (RICHMOND REPRESENT!)

GWAR had no pits, but one time at The Norva, there were people getting crush injuries because people kept pushing towards the stage. Oderus (Dave Brockie, whom I've bought weed off of in the past) had to tell the audience to settle down. One of the first times ever.
