Velious plz - Page 7

Nilbog (and kanras?) spend about 90% of their time developing Velious. A completely separate team is working on PvP development and don't even have access to the Velious database. Working on the PvP server is not a zero-sum game where the other gets ignored as a result.

If you're feeling antsy, it's good to remember that this is a free, private emulated server run by unpaid volunteers.. It is their sandbox, and they'll allocate resources how they choose. They certainly don't owe an answer to you or me, nor do they owe you the coddling that some of you feel so extremely entitled to. Not sure where that shitty attitude comes from, but some of you need to go open up those windows and go outside and take a few deep breaths, because you're casting a terrible impression of the overall community, who are grateful.

Would it help if a blue name said it? Any PvP work has 0 impact on Velious development.

I applied to the staff with the sole stated intention of fixing PvP bugs. I don't even have access to the content databases and I am 100% OK with that. If there were no PvP issues to work on, I would stop working.

I guess some people feel entitled to tell the staff what to do with their free time, but the fact remains that this is volunteer work done for the enjoyment of those doing the work.

i think the point you guys are missing is that this isn't about what you or even the majority of the players want. it's about what the developers want to do. the former may have some influence on the latter, but even if it does, do you think threads like this, full of terrible arguments and entitled demands, will sway their decisions?

I'm not posting to try and sway their decisions.

When someone gets it in their head to do something, most of the time you cant change their mind. even if what they are doing is dumb. They have to find that out for themselves.

I'm posting to all the people on this forum who think this new server is going to be worth a crap. The only people who think it ill be any good have no idea and id bet have not played many pvp games.

Now, if you are just excited because its 'New' fine, But thinking it will be worth a damn is just dumb.

from what i gather here, most people are worried that players who have a lot more time to play than them will dominate on the new red server.

these same people are in favor of a more rapid release of velious on blue, where players who have a lot more time to play than them will dominate.

well gee, thanks for the public service announcement. i'm sure you will save everyone's time by convincing them to not check out a brand new server when it launches. truly the hero we need.

This new server is just going to be a bigger flop than Red is now. It is a TEAM server. Which means a commitment. Good luck with that happening week after week. A lot of people on here are bored shitless now. Sure a few will go and play on it but I bet a hell of a lot won't last a month.

So this just seems like a lot of wasted time that could be put to better use in Dev resources. But it is their sandbox and they can shit in it anywhere they like I guess.

Dude, it's pretty simple. No resources are being used to develop the PvP server at the expense of Veilous, as has been explained to you. If you don't like EQ PvP, then don't play on the server. Or make your own free, private Everquest server and code it from the ground up, where you can make the call about whether or not a PvP server is a good idea.. And when you do, I wish you the best of luck in dealing with extremely negative, entitled children like yourself who feel free to call all the shots from their computer chairs as to what unpaid volunteers should or should not be doing.
