Fact.

Throw in Rentlon Brenclog for the WTF? moment. How did the train pickup the gnome in his hole in the back corner? He would cast big nukes on you i think hes level 14. Some people dont even know about Brenclog

Oh snap, I forgot about Stormfeather. While I have never camped him (only melee I have played is a bst), I know plenty of players who would say this is the worst camp since the spawn time is so long, it has variance, and can skip spawns with no warning (no PH).

One RL friend from work spent an exorbitant amount of time camping SF, I am talking multiple days over several weeks with little to no sleep. He even started to force his GF and brother to camp it for him while he was at work. A week after he got his eye patch, my wife camped it on her War, and it took her just under 4 hours to get both SF and Lodi (the map was rotting). My wife still makes fun of him to this day.
~54 hours straight to get my map piece off Stormfeather. Fuck that birdthing

When I was a 14 druid, me and this warrior would train Dvinn to the trainer camp, cast a DoT and just use the bad pathing to kill him. We sold the daggers for 75pp and split the profits. Was fun because it basically cleared the whole zone for just us and we had it all to ourselves. Did it in MM to, trained whole zone, rooted mob we wanted, zoned out, zoned in and got an easy kill...So much fun!

Quillmane on my mage while doing epic quest, was in karana for 3 days camping him for 10-12 hours a day. He finally pops, I get a message saying that he was up from a few people I had made friends with in the zone. (camps were heavily respected on my server) I went to the location I was given and 2 groups ended up killing quillmane for a mage that wasn't in zone at the time. Clock ticks down to 20seconds on the body before the mage shows up. A druid in one of the groups was saving corpse by keeping his char in the "looted" position. Mean while I was telling them all that I had been camping quillmane for days and that anyone in karana can back me up on that claim. Mage shows up and i just start spamming my right click and i looted that peggy cloak. They freaked out and ended up getting a GM to come down, luckily the GM was on my side due to the body having been rotting for so long (under the 5 minute timer so anyone can loot it) and he checked out the logs to see how long I was there. Ended up getting my epic about 4-5 weeks later.

I used to think that the RM nameds were stupid rare, but I didn't bother learning them on live. Seem to be a ton of Mithril Plated Girdles here. Bilge was ridiculously rare on live, but got figured out here.

Getting specific Efreeti Sky Drops is a huge pain in the ass if you don't have 3 years to do such.

Kunark - luckily most of the good items aren't horrible camps. The really shitty camps seem to be confined to useless quests - Failed Crypt Raider comes to mind. Pained Soul and Rotting Skeleton also suck, but they are worth the effort.

Velious Wise - aiming for a particular Skyshrine Wyvern/Cube drop was awful. Vaniki is a horrible camp when you take out server resets even if Prathun dropped all the details on spawning her. Revamped Chardok's 3 drop system blows for mobs that aren't easy to farm (Chokidai Vocal Cords easily being the worst offender). Some of the Kael quests require obtaining incredibly rare drops (I'm looking at you, Coldain Books), but you can usually just kill the quest giver.

Luclin was probably the worst offender with tons of ridiculously rare items on long respawn mobs.

Ridiculous Luclin Camps:
Medic's Pouch (zone wide iirc, I got mine the second day of Luclin, no idea if it was removed. Either way, dumb rare)
Various Umbral Drops like Yellow Fang Ear or Dathor Hammer (Rare drops off rare spawns)
Lcea Katta's Mask (~5% drop off long 5 day respawn)
Wand of Casual Blessings (~5% drop off long respawn)
Heart of Fungus (Good luck)

PoP Wise - the fucking Immobilize Shield from Air. I came back to EQ in 2007 and a shaman in the guild since PoP was still trying to get one.

Anyhow, I'd say Preserved Chokidai Vocal Cords and Heart of Fungus might be the two worst camps in the game.
