The only way to make them better would be to un-nerf pet damage (not classic), un-nerf dot damage or make them harder to cure/dispel (not classic), or buff lifetaps in pvp (not classic either).

You forgot the classic way to make them better: counters on spells. If it took the appropriate number of casts of Cure Disease, Cure Poison, or Cancel Magic to remove buffs/debuffs/DoTs then all of the sudden things are classic and Necros and other classes reliant on these spells become much better.

In the meantime, Deflux doesn't care about dispel.
