You were skilled and risked your gear for an advantage that you enjoyed.

Verant preached risk vs reward, RZ was no exception and it was glorious.

True. There was a surprising lack of PVP on RZ though. It was pretty neat when you think about it, a game is always better when policy, economy, etc are player driven rather than defined by a developer.

SZ was definitely a blood bath, but that's because with the grouping/chatting/helping restrictions placed on people by the game itself. You had no compelling reason not to attack someone.

Both had benefits and drawbacks, in the end I think RZ had it right.

On that note, with a new PVP server a legit possibility are they going to go out of their way to make it classic? Or is this a classic game experience but a custom PVP one?

Nice!

I still talk to Deep on occasion (who was Narilka also). I've been trying to track down Herb and Bigsob. I think Bigsob/Deas may actually be in prison for some ponzi scheme stuff...doh. When I google his name there is someone from the same town with the same name that looks a lot like him who got busted, and his name isn't a very common one.

And there were things I loved about SZ and things I loved about RZ. Item loot was retarded, all it did was force people to bag all their shit. It made PVP too easy because I'd wear all my crap like diamond resist jewelry and I was fighting essentially against naked people. I really enjoyed the politics of RZ though. SZ didn't have that but the PVP was definitely on a larger scale.
I played Wow a couple years with Deas and Narilka back in vanilla. If were talking about the same Deas, think his name is Chad, I could probably find out about him .. still talk to his ex-wife.

I wouldn't be surprised if he was in jail for some white collar crime.

Yep I'm referring to Chad. Find out what you can if you don't mind. It's funny the 2 or 3 people I've asked if they know anything after telling them what I've found google stalking him have all said the same thing: they wouldn't be surprised. lol

If your google stalking led you to an FBI website ... hedge fund & ponzi scheme. That is the correct Chad. His ex-wife doesn't know anything else beyond this though.

It's funny. Back in the wow days, Chad had a serious bankroll. Now I understand why.

Yep...that's a shame. Cool guy but yeah he always had a lot of money to blow on whatever he wanted. I guess if you're in your late 20s-early 30s and making a couple hundred grand a year it's tough to stay no.
