The server didnt become a ghost town because of shitfest community. The shitfest community is a product of devs enabling the worst in the community by allowing griefers to do their thing on a 600 pop server.

And now they have a server in the pipeline where most likely a level 50 wiz can go to lowbie zones and lulz the fuck out of it.

Solid plan.
Amen.

Rule-set changes will never "fix" either server ~ Project1999 has always catered to the wrong crowd. There were literally thousands of opportunities to steer both servers towards something that everyone could enjoy but instead it has devolved into a game which caters to the lowest common denominator.

This shouldn't be about the staff placating the people who say "Everyone will just roll on evil, its gonna happen again. The past is a 100% certain indicator of the future.

Sure stuff like that should be addressed. And was.

And despite Tradesonreds error. No one is talking about SZ being the baseline. You have Nilbog, Zade and Rogean to counter that. Even Sirken has said he doesn't think a pure SZ server would be a good idea.

No one is catering to a vocal minority. The most vocal minority is the people who come on these forums and enrage about the game and flame the staff (yeah I do it to) but usually with warrant.

I also think a transcripted summary for those who are unwilling/unable to watch the talks would be good. It could be written up fairly easily and unbiasedly to explain what this is all about. Tempted to write one myself. But I feel like I AM too biased and trolly and unprofessional to do it well. Coming from me it would probably not hold much meaning.

Maybe im jumping to conclusions, but to me any set in stone faction ruleset is fisher price baby wheels "sandbox" shit to me. If at least those fisher price wheels worked and did not set said baby to fall into a precipice when the fail wheels lock in place.

When asked about character transfers from blue, you guys said it wouldn't work because it would destroy the economy.

But what about with no items? This got brought up during the stream but there wasn't any real discussion or answer about it. Wouldn't this be a very easy way to bring a bunch of new end-game players into the mix?

I mean I think it's worth a shot before developing, testing and deploying an entirely new server...

Regardless I hope you guys do something cool with the ruleset and the item loot ideas. I really liked the direction you guys were going with some of the customization (in regards to the teams, it'd be cool to pick your team based on the team you want to be on rather than the character you want to play).

Let's keep in mind that like it has been said, there's always a top guild, teams or not. Even on SZ, was it Hate or Ruin that was miles ahead without any contest? Vallon had Prophets and then Defiant. Tallon had PDM. Nothing is going to change that short of limiting guild size I think... I remember that enjoying some success on previous PvP emus.

Also I think everyone should consider a 2-team ruleset more seriously. Sullon in the end was a 2-team game. Vallon and Tallon the same (GvE). RZ was anti vs pks... and those were with huge populations. Things naturally tend to go 2-team, hard coded or not. I'm guessing this will be substantially more true on a smaller server.

The reason they don't do that - is because they want PVP isolated from blue.

You don't fuck something good up, by mixing it with shit. They just don't want to say it.

After watching the roundtable discussion in full, I have a few of suggestions:

1) Forget all the talk of "keeping it classic." If you really want to attract more players, make the best custom EQ PvP server that has ever existed. Nerf items or tweak resists as needed, but please do whatever it takes to design the best damn EQ PvP server ever. Otherwise, this is nothing more then a wipe where we can transfer our characters after 6 months has elapsed.

2) Balanced teams. I know this is likely obvious, but on VZ some of the race based teams were so disadvantaged not having particular classes available. I personally kind of like the idea of being able to just select what team to be a part of at character selection screen (e.g., team orange, purple, green, whatever).

3) Make the teams hard-coded. Cross teaming just sets up exploitable situations (e.g., immy healing).

Anyhow, I am skeptical that any of this will get done, and I feel like this is a pseudo wipe. Time will tell.

Bumping this thread because I am getting PM'd with questions ^ read up b4.

Here's my short summary + soap box.

Staff Roundtable Discussion (incase u missed it)

http://www.project1999.org/forums/sh...d.php?t=120843

Edited: (2hr limit on twitch to youtube uploads)
http://www.twitch.tv/sirkenp99/c/2852039

Unedited: (3hrs, my apologies for the volume, it gets better after i adjusted it)
http://www.twitch.tv/sirkenp99/c/2851994

Super Unedited: (5hrs, skip to 43min if u dont wanna hear us BS before the discussion)
http://www.twitch.tv/rogean/b/454560341

The stream was just an early announcement. Nothing is set in stone. And the devs wanted to share and hear opinions on Team pvp.

Step 1 fix resists and stuff on red.
Step 2 teams based server for more + population
Step 3. Merge servers taking into consideration player feedback on rules and server + population and popularity. (It will not be decided by population alone).

There is nothing set in stone at this point. It could be hardcoded, softcoded or a mix of hardcoded and softcoded teams. Sirken likes softcoded teams because they are easier to merge to. Some shit Rogean says in the stream is dumb, but thats why he has Sirken and Nilbog advising him, so don't worry if he is being stupid.

Also you will be able to play both servers simultaneously.

Dullah has a good post about how to actually do UO style 3 teams pvp. This is going to be the rules set I most favor. Obs I'm a lil biased.

A new 3 team model to appease the masses
