I did 13 months in South Mississippi Correctional Institute. Prison isn't dangerous unless you're stupid enough to join a "gang". If that's the case you might get a 10 inch piece of straightened & sharpened chainlink fence through your kidney.
Rape doesn't really occur very often in prison anymore because there's enough willing gays in there. Best thing to do is get a job on a work crew (if you're in out-custody) so you can feel freedom every day. Also if you're on a work crew you usually get fed more. If you're really going to prison, keep your head up. Don't let the concrete get to you or you'll be miserable.

2 days was most i did and that was just in THU in city prison. I could def see bulking up if alot of time is spend in jail. nothing really to do other then play spades,exercise, and sleep

I'm going to try to get a job right away...maybe in the shop or maintenance. I personally don't want any kitchen duty as it's more of a chance to get caught up in the smuggling.
I need to quit smoking cigarettes or I'm going to be in real trouble in there with the crave. The whole race thing, I know but I'm 1/2 Vietnamese and 1/2 Russian...doubt there are many asian people in there =x | ||

Shop and maintenence are still on the compound. You're still behind steel and concrete. If all you have is a drug charge you should be in some sort of out-custody. Which means you'll be able to get a job with city/county work crews or churches. You'll have a guard with a high powered rifle watching you all day... but atleast you're "out".
I was in for a violent crime (burglary of an occupied dwelling) and I was still able to get B-Out custody. I don't know exactly what the difference is.. just that I wore black and white stripes and the A-Out guys wore green and white.
