So I got a new laptop and now the game doesn't work right.

The issues I'm having seem to be that the game doesn't want to load right.. it hangs on zones and randomly can't connect at the login screen. I also can't get duxa's ui to load for the life of me (I get a GUI error every time).

I'm using the same exact set up that I had on my old laptop... yet it doesn't work right.

Any ideas? Anything to do with windows 8?

Did you install to c:/everquest instead of c:/program files/XXX/xxx?
If its installed under c:/everquest make sure to have full privileges as well, some where along the line it sounds like its not allowing the computer to load certain things.

Yeah I just did a fresh install to the c drive... it seems to load slow zones slow as hell.

Only thing I can think of is to try WinEQ, that solved alot of loading problems on my laptop for some reason.

I'm running P1999 under Windows 8 and 8.1 without issues.

I run EQ Emu at home on Win8 x64 - no issues. Been running it on my work laptop for a week and all of a sudden it started closing out randomly, i'll be running through WC or EC or where ever I am and it will close out. This usually happens about 2 minutes after getting into Norrath on any character.

I tried reinstalling directly to C:\ - Full permissions, Run as Admin, Compatibility for Win XP Sp3, tried the multi-processor fix on Duxa's

Really strange issues, no errors in event logs, anyone have any ideas here?

I switched to using wineq2.. that solved a lot of the issues.

The thing that remains is that I'll randomly have trouble logging in and I'll disconnect when zoning.

It doesn't happen always, but it does happen.

Where can I get WinEQ2? Is it free?

Update: I think I fixed it... I removed AVG from my system, its no longer closing out. I wonder if it was picking it up as a threat.
