I went to all the trouble of calculating the average height to point out the likelihood that this poll is not likely to be answered truthfully. Then I saw all the responses. And yeah, I'm guessing a lot of people like to lie to others and themselves about their height to feel better. Kinda sad. I'm 8 foot 6 and trust me, it's nothing to be proud of.

For the curious, here are the results:

Compared to:

Assuming 80% of respondents are male, we should see an average of 5' 8.4"

So the poll is showing an average of at least 3 inches higher than expected (not everyone is from the US and we tend to be a bit taller than most, unless this server has a ton of northern Europeans).

A few factors that could lead to this discrepancy:
1) Wealthy people, who have more time for things like games, tend to be taller due to a better diet.
2) Laying around in bed all day playing EQ allows the spine to decompress and the body to lengthen.
3) Participation bias. Those who are shorter may be less likely to participate in such a poll.
4) Liars

When i lost 120lb about 5 years ago i grew almost about 1.5 inches from spine decompression.

I never understood why people lied about their height, you can be 7 feet tall and still have small hands and feet. Thus, you're still a scrawny havin dick bastard that's monstrously tall.
