I didn't fool you Sebekkha. I was a total noob to the server when you helped me and at that point hadn't heard a peep about RMT. Don't think I heard anyone mention it until I was in my 20's.

Indeed as a low lvl on this server was "twinked' by nice players such as yourself (Sebekhha) along the way, but when I got to my 40's my gear was generally below that of players i was trying to group with and it made it hard to get groups.

As I said I had the experience of grouping with multiple guys (who would still be playing weeks after mentioning RMT) who would say "I need to buy some PP from platlord to get a FBSs, etc."
Hold up, so this guy was given 1-2k in plat or items as low level starting out "newb," leveled to the 40's and still couldn't figure out how to make his own money and his own way? Seriously is this game just too hard for some people?

Gadwin believe it or not in a game that requires grouping ... play whatever you like doesn't really fly. Otherwise there'd be a lot more rangers & palies (there were tons during live at this same period). All you need is 1 or 2 dudes in a group who are min maxers... and now you got an issue.

I get what you're saying, but its a happy path scenario.
Play whatever you want always flies, I don't think I am alone here when I say that I would rather play a class that I love and have a harder time finding groups than play one I hate and get groups all the time.

In how that relates to gear, at lower levels I have never been part of a group that refused to let someone join because they weren't twinked. I think that everyone understands that first time players aren't going to have insane gear and most of us have been in that same spot ourselves.

By the time someone reaches the point where they will need good gear to get groups or to raid they are definitely capable of making their own way in Norrath, regardless of what class they play. Be it tunnel ratting, farming low level cash mobs, or going to decent camps with guildies and friends you made along the way. Yeah I know, those things aren't always super fun. But like I said before it gives you a sense of accomplishment that can't be bought or found in other games.

Been on the server for 3+ years, level'd a bunch of toons. Never once have I heard anyone suggest or even mention RMT.

I once had a guy elude to the fact that he might have used RMT at some point. But even he didn't have the balls to say it outright - and he was a friend.

I don't believe this guy for a second. Keep him banned. Keep them all banned. Don't fall for this psychological warfare, GM's!

I guess a lot of people probably already know RMT is a bannable offense, I didn't...again I guess that is my own fault for being ignorant/not being on the forums all the time. I just relied on information from players in the game....you know kind of like back in P1999.
K
You mean...never reading the rules even once.

You don't need to be a lvl 60 forumquester to know that RMT is against the rules......no sympathy from me.

Now I really don't understand...if you only lost a few days of playing then whats all the hubbub about? Consider yourself lucky that you learned the rules today (and only lost a few days) instead of the ban coming a few months from now...

Just reroll and don't RMT. You can make up that loss easy.
^ This.

So if you played for 4 calendar days, STFU and reroll and stop creating this unwarranted drama. You are lying and getting caught.

Just FYI, I merely gave him a suit of Flayed Skin Armour, and a Mithril Two-Handed Sword. but that's besides the point.

After reading all of this, my feelings toward cheating are even more solidified.

If you RMT, buy powerleveling, or buy an account, you aren't actually playing the game....so why bother playing at all? Do you feel pride when you're wearing gear that you bought by cheating? Do you feel good about playing a high level character that you didn't level? Where's the joy in that? Where's the sense of accomplishment?

There's fifty other games out there with shops that you can RMT gear and levels. Why do you pick the one challenging game still standing -beloved because it is difficult- and then power level through it or buy twink gear to bypass much of what makes EQ what it is? It makes no fucking sense.

Its like when I worked a classic car race in Daytona a few years back and a guy showed up with a 'stock' 65 mustang that actually had a Winston cup motor and a fiberglass body. Sure, he was much much faster than everyone else but he couldn't win any points in the races and he looked like a complete asshat to anyone who knew what he was running.

Another person (16 warrior) I gave like 1k of gear to was quitting because his friends quit playing and returned me 1k, 2 lammies and some other items that I have since given away. I think I geared one ogre sk and one or two rangers. Hybrid love.
