This happened to my wife, the night prior, while we were making dinner before heading out to go knock out a level or two.

She was parked by the gate, and I heard the ever famous bonecrunch+ow that I had trained my ears to, oh so long ago. By the time I jumped over the coffee table and slid into the chair to get her towards the guards, wife's character was already dead, the guards did nothing, and she had wandered off onto some other poor schmuck to give the beatdown to.

She was there for quite a while, and the only real way to make it past her unaided was to go through a different entrance, or wait until someone else was getting the smackdown put on them and scurry past.
