Item loot while interesting to think about would definitely hurt the population, economy, and pvp in general. Nobody would want to play knowing someone 8 levels higher and far better geared could just come steal their gear. People wouldn't buy gear knowing it could get stolen. People wouldn't even try to pvp any more because they would be too busy bagging everything. Personally I would love it if it could work but I just don't see any good coming from it.

Yes lets put in item loot when over half of the server is in full no drop.

Without a wipe, item loot would drop red99 population to <30 peak & the entire server would be nihilum again aside from the few stragglers.

Well, I can tell you that runlvlzero has spent countless hours leveling up lowbie alts just so that he can help other lowbies level up. He has been almost laughably helpful in this regard.

I really want to know where people's terrifying visions of item loot come from.

We are trying to get new players to want to play here. For level 1-50 your gear is worth basically nothing if you are not a twink. Super max fungi PK's will either destroy your gear if they are completely evil, or just keep it till they give it to some other noob.

The difference (as a newbie) is that instead of having an invincible twink that there is NO reason to fight, there now IS a reason to fight, because he is a raid boss now with potential for some serious loot. If he starts bagging his gear then he will be weaker and u still might get something good from killing him.

Its the best.

Even people with as much no drop gear as is attainable right now are going to be fighting at half strength, or they will have a couple of droppable items equipped to be in good shape. It makes for good sporting fun.

I used to be in favor of a wipe, but now I think that the wipe idea is more have nots trying to get Rogean to screw over the people who have stuck with the server and pharmed all of their high end gear. These dedicated players will get ahead again anyways, so why nerf them. Besides the holocaust ban everyone had a chance to get ahead in the early days, and washouts washed out.

No invincible raid boss players are going to be pharming weak players for gear, its absurd. Melees can wear full banded and EASILY handle level 1-50 and above that shit gears real. Same for casters with low end intelligence gear.

The other thing is that the non existent economy on red would become existant because people would just wind up getting a buncha stuff they don't have or need and just want to give it away or sell it for 50pp. Droppable stuff on rallos was a lot cheaper than other servers because people could just take it from you if you got unlucky. Its not a 1 sided coin.

If the super well equipped nihilum guys started actually trying to PVP for loot??? thats absurd, they are killing raid bosses for the best loot that only they have. If the well equipped players did that, everyone would have a blast actually having people to fight for a change, or at least I imagine that based on all the complaints that nihilum does not PVP.

The main thing is, the high levels that currently wear DECENT droppable gear, will put it in their bags and learn to deal with the riskiness of it.

BUT the whole reason for item loot is to make the part of the game that majority of players spend the majority of their time doing, more interesting, which is level 1-50. For these levels PVP is fun and has a purpose instead of just getting griefed by twinks that you have no incentive whatsoever to fight and try to defeat.

I don't see how you miss that point. Two friends or three friends can make a few characters and just hunt twinks for loot. Its a blast, and the twinks hunt eachother for loot too. There is just a whole lot of great reasons to PVP. On rallos my max level was 45 and that was a character I retired. I just pvped because it was a blast. On rallos as a twink PK and one with many twink PK friends I can tell you that I never had any interest in squashing lowbies wearing banded. I would leave that junk on the ground. I was looking for that slightly off blue color iksar regen BP and these twinks I would hunt relentlessly. The only people that REALLY get hurt by item loot are twinks (who now have to think twice) and level 50+'s who now also have to twink twice about the gear they use and when.

So yeah, level 50+ guys will have to make some changes but they aren't insurmountable at all.

Also a 4 level pvp range will have to be implemented too.

Rich people don't want your cloth and banded or your +15hp+15 mana wrist slot item.

So don't worry about it. Nihilum gets best loot from dragons and you will see their 15 man force coming for you pretty easily so just put that shit in bags and gate or make for the zone line if you are't prepared for a sparta vs persia battle.

At the pace they do things here, i wouldnt hold my breath.

It took them a year and a half to patch xp loss in pvp, which was obvious a week after launch that it was gonna cause the server to go downhill.

Its not a shot at the devs, they probably have other things going on and cant devote 100% to the server.

But its reality.

I even gave them a way to have item loot without having to reboot the server: make it optional, with a NPC that flags you for item loot and patch in a custom, not so bad set of no drop loot, at least for melees.

I just dont see it happening, even if it would spice up the server.

Like Gustoo said, on Rallos you had a reason as a noob to be fighting twinks, that if they got cocky, they might lose some of that twinkage to a band of bronoobs. Here noobs have nothing to gain beside a fun session of pvp and learning how well each approach to pvp works. With xp loss, it was even worse, all they had to gain was a big chance of xp loss and the need to change zones or log while the twink gets bored and leaves, with minimal chances of experimenting what strategy worked best in pvp for each given class. Im sure that made alot of people pack their shit and leave.

Whats funny is that if they implement the resists people are calling for, it will be worse for noobs because then twinks are basically unrootable with Rallos-like resists. I think nukes got resisted alot as well.

It will not be as bad as when they lost xp fighting twinks, but it will be worse than it is now.

With a new resist system, and item loot, that would be more viable. Because twinks would have to put something on the line if they just wanted to run around griefing naked new people, being really hard to kill.

Here's a idea. Re-purpose the nodrop flags meaning. So only nodrop items are now the lootables.

Would prevent newb farming and the farming of the under geared.

that said, it would be very bad for this server.

just as it was bad for past emu pvp servers.
