Default Spell Icon Woes

I've been playing around with spell icon sets and trying to restore what I remember from my Luclin/PoP/GoD days. I've found Luclin sets but they seem incomplete and they look hand-drawn and crappy.

At this point I'll compromise and just load whatever I think looks best - that's fine.

The issue I'm having is that the correct icons are not being assigned to certain spells. For example, Heat Blood should have a Fire icon as shown here: http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/spell.html?spell=360

However, none of the icon sets I've tried seem to know what fire is. They assign some generic picture to ALL DoTs which is incorrect.

Ive noticed that the Snare / Root line are different icons which is also incorrect. This shows as the Thorns icon for me. Should be a boot.

I've done some more looking into this...

My ultimate goal is to have accurate icons/gems from the PoP/GoD era while using the default Titanium UI.

Issues:

1. When loading different spell icon/gem sets, the spells do not match up with the correct icons/gems.

- I've tried replacing the spells_us.txt but apparently this needs to be specifically compatible with Project 1999.

2. I have yet to find an icon set that seems accurate. Some Luclin icon sets seem almost right but they look like faded, hand-drawn copies of the originals.

Has someone figured this out already? I've found several discussions but no clear answers.

P99 is based on the Classic era of spell icons, of which there were only 23 to choose from. Luclin did indeed have a broader set to choose from but you have to have to shoehorn choices of those icons to fit within the 23 icon limit.

Basically until the Luclin update is released for the server (eg never) icon sacrifices had to be made. Feel free to make your own tga files if you want to change the icons but your still not going to get every spell to match correctly whatever you do.

Thank you Savok. Now I fully understand. I've loaded the classic icons and will be happy with them.

Just in case I feel like goofing around with this in the future, is there a walk through for making tga files anywhere?
