It should NOT take the internet to get people inspired to donate money towards a way to help people who suffer from a terrible thing. It's such a cry for positive attention when people have to post videos of themselves or talk about how they did something in order to help other people by donating towards a solution or cure.
If people really cared, about other people who suffer they would donate money towards a solution\cure without looking for attention or telling others about it. Quote:

sadly a popular way to draw attention to debilitating diseases in the america is to have a means for people to insert their own ego for attention rather than just doing something because it is a good thing to do.

I'd rather give a homeless person 20 bucks to cure hunger for a day.
