sounds like a bard had some friends turn in 5g at a time spawning the skeletons at mass , and the bard would profit by swarm kiting all of them.

If you would read, people were creating rumors because they are/were unsure of the actual exploit, I was just clarifying.

I wasn't insinuating that it wasn't an actual exploit or not a big deal.

I don't know the exact rules for Guides but I suspect Ephi is either taking some liberty with them when he sees people exploiting, and his reaction is to remove the source of the exploit rather than punish the offenders, or has received instructions from the developers or Ambrotos. (Er, who is server GM now that Ambrotos has been deployed?)
Sirken has also removed Oowomp on occasion for the same reason.

And if people don't get the message that exploitation means punishment, well my ban button will work just fine later too.

Everybody wants heads to roll lately. This whole thread is a bit sad, honestly. Trust me, they're rolling anyway.

is spawning/killing the skele for exp an exploit, or is it only an exploit if you abuse the perma-root feature?

Abusing the perma-root is the exploit, I would assume. On live, you can spawn the bard all day and kill for xp, he just wasnt rooted.

Everybody wants heads to roll, because there is a (well-earned) perceived softness in the developers when it comes to exploiters on P99.

We are going to be talking about the Great Wrist Slap of 2011 forever. Get used to it.

do you realize how much the overhead is on an internet cafe? Thought so. The entire server economy depends on this one cafe in Seoul called "Vintage America Yeah Fuck!" and most the machines run p99. It generates the plat and pl'ing.

Ask Tomtee. He's the manager. Pull the plug on VAF!, the velocity of plat on the server drops to zero overnight.

I think if you guys were serious about this exploit and any future exploits then you would suspend, you don't even need to give them a long suspension. Just something to let them know "hey, you screwed up for repeatedly using an exploit. You get a 3 hour suspension now, and if you do it again you're getting a 24 hour suspension."
