God it must be nice to have such a simplistic worldview. You think our quality of life came from capitalism? We aren't even fucking capitalist, we are a mixed market, just like everyone else. Our standard of living is higher because we are a wealthier nation.
We are a wealthy nation because of strong civic & cultural traits, all the events over the last 500 years, imperialism, and a combination of state interventionist economics and public institutions that protect our quality of life. We are free market to the extent that private parties are free to exchange goods and services and people can establish free enterprise, but beyond that we have always been interventionist, with the government selectively cultivating, protecting, and expanding certain industries through laws. Sometimes because of corruption, sometimes because of public will.

Do you know what this is? Thousands of people marching for an 8 hour work day in 1900. Motivated by
socialist ideas, people like this helped us transition from Chinese capitalism and syndicalism to the mixed market we have today (which has been terribly eroded since the 50's back in the direction of late 1800's peasanthood, but I digress). Before Marx and socialism there was no 8 hour work day, there was no vacation, there was no occupational safety, there was no 40 hour week, there was no minimum wage, there was no pension or retirement. Workers fought tooth and nail for each one of these things for decades before you were born with it, and people like you have been raised so misinformed as to want to throw it away for "muh capitalism".
