I don't see how the 2004 reference isn't sufficient, since there was never any change to Call of Sky.

How do you know there was never a change? Maybe things were changed and not put in patch notes over the years. Someone as small as a proc on a weapon might have gone unwritten. Trust me being a ranger i'm all for stuff to add to our DPS but also want to make sure its correct. I dont remember if it did or didnt work back in luclin era on live(when i made my halfling ranger).

Well, the best evidence I can give is anecdotal. My friend mained a Shadowknight, and used to proc vampiric embrace (rarely) with his bow when pulling. I've been looking on castersrealm. I'll find something.
