On live, I used a pet. Put pet on guard, and it will face nearest npc (or trap). Go in that dir, and if u get giants emote .... run!
Ok I thought there was a trick to it couldn't remember though. I think I just ran around with SoW til he spawned since I was a druid at the time and don't remember being able to charm(don't think I had high enough spell) the stuff there then.
