Its like you can't even read. I mention the bazaar and pre-zek merge population and you post a picture from 2001. The funny thing is the picture you post contradicts everything you say about item loot killing population. In your chosen snapshot we see rallos with 27 less players than Vallon. HOLY FUCKING SHIT. ITEM LOOT IS KILLED THE POP. I bet those 1677 players are all naked wizards. LOL.

Look at that backpeddle. That pic is pre-merge, so your attempt to flip flop failed. You mention the bazaar because you never played during item loot and don't know what you're talking about.

Also 3524 is more than 1677. When Tallon launched so many people joined it Verant had to take it down and open Vallon a week later. Both servers kept crashing for a month from overpopulation while Rallos bled players. When Sullon opened the population on Rallos dropped even more.

Stop posting.

Hey! new player here on red99 and loving it so far! Just a FYI, i played on RZ from release and there was always Item loot from day 1 on RZ but!..the 1 major change made early on was that players could no longer loot weapons from their defeated opponents, only 1 tradable item and any coin the person had on them. A weapon could only be looted from a person if he/she was disarmed and it fell into an open slot in their inventory in a situation where a player wasn't carrying a full set of bags.

Another problem was that when players hit the level cap they quite often had a full set of NO DROP items and armor which made it pointless killing them if you were only doing it to gank someone for loot drops. Most PvP battles were the result of wars between guilds or fighting over rare spawns or raid boss spawns which made for a very competitive server.

Most players simply learned to bag their items that were dropable if they were in danger of being defeated by another player. Red99 server is very close to how things were on RZ back in the day minus the no item loot rule set for PvP.

And guess what happened? Tallon took item loot off, and tons of people moved there. Then Vallon took item loot off and it stopped hemorrhaging players. You'd know this if you actually played the game. Verant realized item loot was shit and imbalanced and not right in a game like EQ and took it off. Notice they didn't put item loot on Sullon Zek.

Fact remains you can't argue that item loot is super imbalanced toward casters, that melees don't want to play item loot servers, and that it was deeply unpopular and taken off all the EQ PvP servers for a reason. But please, please, please, keep posting!
