Snow Griffin Egg Drops

Hi, I've been hunting Snow Griffins for around 10 hours so far, and have killed about a dozen of them without a single egg drop. Is the drop rate broken? Also snow griffins themselves spawn at an incredibly slow rate. I've only seen three at any given time in EW.
