To answer your question though, it's because unlike black americans, most immigrants weren't brought up with zero accountability, being taught to play the victim, and being told that they're entitled to a free ride because a handful of people who looked like them were forced to have jobs a few hundred years ago. There are some serious entitlement issues amongst black americans. 100% of the african exchange students that were at my highschool were cool, worked hard to maintain good grades in honors level classes, and absolutely despised the black kids, going so far as to mock them openly.

This. We do a lot of bashing of the melanin itself in this country.

But I have never met an African from Africa that wasn't cool and normal.

At university I no-showed a 300 level course in my major from BEFORE the mid-term exam, and this cute stately African professor from Cameroon was like "ah well he seemed nice and looked privileged. gotta respect that". I got a fucking B+ after no-showing and never emailing her anything.

Fun follow-up. 2 years later, I'm in the department in my senior year (I had many senior years, so no this isn't my 4th year) I walk headlong into her in the hallway. We both freeze, immediate recognition. She goes to speak (trying to ask what he fuck happened), I smile and give a head nod/bow, and continue to walk briskly away.

You read that right. Real university. No mid-term, no final. No communiction. B+ baby. Fuck you, pay me.
