Your first post perfectly describes Tehran. The poor wear more traditional clothing in the southern portions of the city. The northern "suburbs" are basically like the Persian parts of LA. The villages have always had women wearing burkas...

Iran didn't even start to phase out the burka til the Pahlavi dynasty took power in the early 20th century...inertia in the Middle East is a powerful thing

I am more interested in your take on the politics of Iran, given the fact that you claim to be from there (I WANT to believe you, I do. But, "I'm from Iran." sounds like an argument 14 year old me would have made on the Internet.)

Were you born in Iran?

When did you arrive/leave?

Why did you or your family leave? Political/social oppression? Economic reasons?

Are you Muslim? I understand if you don't want to answer this one lol!

Are there racial/ethnic issues in addition to religious issues at play in Iran? Did these effect you?

Did you or your family members have to wear traditional garb while in Iran? Were there credible threats of violence if you didn't wear them?

What are my chances of picking up an Iranian chick if I could hypothetically visit? Would she go down on me? Would she expect me to return the favor? Pubic Hair?...Pubic Hijab!?
