They do make some of the best pets though. Full compliment of level-appropriate spells, faster mana regen, AND good melee DPS.

True. Burning woods Sarnak zealots got me through 59 in no time. Those level 50 druids in rathe mountains can blast through like 12 hill giants before they're though
