Server is pretty gay w/out yellow text to be honest. Global /ooc definitely off as there are too many annoying 'spergs mouthing off, but YT has several benefits and zero cons (and keeping in the place of kill as it promotes pvp - and last time I checked this wasn't a blue/RZ server)

Yellow Text Pro's:
-promotes pvp
-makes the server less quite, interesting w/ global OOC off
-creates community and drives site traffic to the forums with mass qq and posting of cherished screen shots.

Cons:

And its not even desireable, its just another way to grief and poison the server community with. PvP should be for in game reasons, not to get the most YT.

We should be trying to cultivate 1999 Rallos server culture, not 2009 VZTZ haxbox culture.

again, if u want blue eq, the regular project 1999 server is the best fit for you....for those who want PVP on a PVP server....YT only promotes more YT, something PVPers actually want

I don't see the problem with having it server wide...this is a PVP server, pvp kills should be broadcasted. So what if it tells you where it happened, that only encourages more pvp...and isn't this what we want people?! Server wide recognition, definately, revealing location, I don't see the harm..

Another bad point about YT:

Especially with no global /ooc , you could be an evil ganker traveling from zone to zone hunting unsuspecting victims. Walking up to them, them looking at you with innocent lamb eyes, and then you kill em.

With yellowtext, the whole world will know instantly who is on a murder spree and who isint.

Its artificial, and bad for server culture. Let players communitcate among themselves to out the griefers, not yellow text.

This server is not pushing for hardcore pvp. If it was, we'd have item loot.

Zone wide YT is a good compromise, pals. Lets you keep up w/ how your side is doing in a mass PvP fight w/o having to listen to people cry in vent etc.

Also, puts fervent anti-PKers on alert that someone's about to take their spell $.
