It's the monk every single time, with or without fungi tunic. Paladin or SK is probably close 2nd. My SK was pretty good but without mana hes just a slower monk even with best twink gear and fungi/FT2 helm.

I found the opposite to be true. My SK could go hours killing with no breaks if you knew where to fear kite in tight quarters. The hole and HS specifically, whereas my monk had to still constantly take breaks to bandage and struggled with casters, both equally twinked. I suppose it all depends on where you hunt though. I feel like an SK in this state of Velious is more of a pure solo class than a monk is, but I'm not denying that monks are an overall superior class. Also if you get lucky with a POTG or have someone to log in your druid bot that solves most of the SK mana problem.

Most recently, crystal caverns, spiders or geos. Found my monk cleared everything significantly faster with IFS + 36% haste + fungi than my SK could accomplish fear kiting in similar gear with the 40/40 2h reaver.

Both of you are correct from my experience.

At higher levels (level 55+), SKs are very efficient via fear kiting with flowing thought items and clickies. Mobs start hitting a lot harder, so face tanking becomes a more costly affair. At higher levels HP Regen from Fungi and Racial Regen doesn't soak damage as well as it did in the lower levels. You also have a larger HP pool, so recovering takes longer. This is where fear kiting really shines, as you don't take a lot of damage, and flowing thought + clickies keep your mana up.

From levels 1-50 my twinked monk was really fast at leveling, probably faster than an SK. I was getting like 1 level an hour in Crystal Caverns. I didn't have much downtime between kills, if any. This was with Fungi, Seahorse Belt, and IFS.

Don't know what extensive testing they did but just a timer for a couple rounds would have proven them wrong. This is some flat earther level bullshit haha.
I mean, it was long before smartphones and you couldn't even alt-tab out of the original EQ client. Unless someone literally sat there with an actual stopwatch in hand, it was kinda hard to test exactly how long it took for a mob to respawn.

You kids with your new fangled abacuses need to learn how to do mental math or god forbid paper and pencil. There's 84,600 seconds in a day, you start there and work your backwards from there until the mob spawns, note that number, and keep counting down and repeat the process until you have a set of data where there should be an obvious pattern unless it's a random spawn.

I get the joke, but it actually turns out that using an abacus is a great way to learn to do mental math faster: https://github.com/whacked/cow/blob/...0an%20adult.md

Tracking time before the year 2005? Unheard of.
