I picked up the Long Dark last year when it was on sale so it was earlier and I heard some things have changed, like they connected the maps together so its much bigger now. I really enjoyed it, especially playing it in the winter when it was cold as fuck and dark where I lived.

Its a very solitary game you will not come across very many lifeforms outside of wolves, unless they changed it. Its pretty standard, explore and find food and survival gear. It is pretty tough, gotta make sure you get good clothes and have a lot of food and drinkable water and enough kindling to keep a fire going while you sleep. It can get a little tedious with the extreme temperatures sometimes before you get gear, you wont even be able to be outside for more than a few minutes, which I thought was kinda much, its not like your in Antarctica during a storm.

Again tho, this was a over a year ago when it was very early on in development.

They added some challenge modes, one of them looks like this:

[You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]
It begins with the player char getting humped by a big griz. Then you gotta find some far off location where the gun is, while being hunted by the sex starved grizzy. I think I have an idea where they got the inspiration for this challenge. Some of the streamer youtube vids are hilarious ^^

Bought it, but pc still down. Just been playing windward on my lappy. Nice, I really liked sid meier's pirates, this is a nice spin off of it.

I picked up Deus Ex, Fallout: New Vegas, and Civilization 5. Got my ass kicked on Deus Ex because I don't know what i'm doing. Tried Fallout and had a much better time. This game is polished.

Has anyone tried out the steam controller? My mouse can't seem to get the right callibration for gaming, i'm thinking of getting it.

Check back in on New vegas, let me know if its worth a buy after you have given it a few sessions.

Sick of buying games only to find out its a console port and hard to play/bad on your fingers without a XBOX controller.

I have New Vegas with all the DLC's. Put about 80+ hours into it. I've completed one of the DLC story-lines, and haven't finished anything else. Great game.

10-4. Will probably buy it tonight.

I bought Deus Ex Human Revolution. good storyline, but console port killed the fun as far as combat goes.

For an fps? Nah I'd get a trackball. You can have both a mouse and trackball on the system at the same time. I use a pc playstation controller when I need a game controller, but not so great for fps games. You lose accuracy, but retain the long-term comfort as you would get with a trackball. Yet trackball has both comfort and accuracy for fps gaming. Mouse can be a little more accuate in the short-run, but for long periods of gaming you don't get the fatigue which means accracy doesn't degrade and imo even improves with the trackball.

It's really only poor if you have bad finger control. I shred guitars and type 60wpm, so I find the trackball a deadly instrument on the virtual battlefield.

New Vegas is a solid game, any of the bethesda classics are.

Steam link is pretty neat, I don't recommend the controller though.
