Default a velium hound (West Wastes)

Again, not a bug but something to bring up for discussion.

When I was doing my shawl on live, the velium hound fur was maybe the most frustrating item to collect. I would run around west wastes for hours and maybe only find one hound up. I ended up having to buy all the fur for the quest, and the going price of 1k each also suggested that this was a pretty rare item.

On P99, velium hounds are everywhere. No problem finding them just by running around a bit.

So the question is, are the hounds too common on P99, or was it just a case of everyone killing them on live for the fur and respawning them as other stuff that didn't get killed as much (like mammoths)?

This may be completely irrelevant since I don't think the velium hound fur is used until the last shawl which is Luclin era, but it's just one thing I've noticed as a bit off. The beta server is getting pretty solid so I guess it's time for nit picking.

Hounds weren't particularly rare, and the hides weren't too bad.

But they sort of blended in with the surrounding and its a big zone. If you were trying to find them without track I could understand why you missed them back then.

It did take a couple days of going in tracking and killing a few and coming back later to get the 8 required for shawl.

If they are on spawn tables with rhinos, wyvs, drakes and other things, they probably got cherry picked on live for the fur and respawned as other things leading to a reduction in the amount seen if people didn't kill the other stuff.

Yes, aggro range real small.

Also using wrong model:

this is what it should be.

Also they are not running fast enough. I can outrun them with jboots:

These puppies CAN yes CAN outrun j boots. I don't know about a high level sow. I found this out while I was running for my life doing a CR. They do not see through invis like most of the lower single named dragons, but do have a knack for seeing ya soon as it drops [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Beta's Wolf Models seem accurate to Timeline. That screenshot has drop shadows on the NPC name, which gives it away as non-classic. See also: http://www.project1999.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=124235

Bump hounds still low aggro range and running slower then Jboots,

Velium hounds currently on beta can be easily outran with Jboots, it seems this was not the case back in 2001~ Also a post mentioning the other npcs the hounds share a spawn table with

Kept up almost pace for pace with lvl 57 sow. The only way for me to escape was to get to zone. Snare has been resisted everytime, (I have yet to land a snare on Hounds or Drakes). They hit HARD.
Mastodons, Brontotheriums, velium hounds, wyverns, and cragwyrms all share the same spawns. Unfortunately Wyverns and Cragwyrms are on Claws of Veeshan faction, so if you're trying to maintain good faction with them and that's all that is up, you're screwed.

They outrunned my sow (lvl 55) and Gladly I had Spirit of Cheetah memmed, and then bye bye Wolfie
By the way I'd like to know if they are soloables for a lvl 55 shammy, harder hit I took was 149 so I guess it's possible, just to know if they are slowables thank you

PS: J and Tboots are "only" 35% faster than normal movement, sow is 55% at lvl 50+, so take care you're not safe with your boots, giants and some high mobs will easily hit you while you'll try to escape them just a bit faster (just buy our potions to feel safer )

K no. People need to stop claiming the model is wrong.

That is the Luclin wolf model. The version we have is correct. For all wolves in Velious.

Hmm, you might be right. Found this conversation about it.

There have just been several bug posts about this I believe.

Same deal with Dozekar's graphic and Hybrid spell access. People just need to pause a little bit and dig deeper before posting some bugs generally is all.

the graphics was more of a side note. i mainly wanted to get the run speed thing and aggro range in.
