I wanna give up

Feeling sorry for people who asked for what they wanted, to find the didn't want what they got...

Eating when I'm depressed/bored.

Expecting more from people who repeatedly let me down.

What we need to remember is that you use what works. Linux works for me 100%. My needs are simple. I dont need it for work. I hate games, except eq.

Linux does not want more desktops installed per se, it just tries to work for those that need what it offers.
Many factors preclude widespread Linux on the desktop including, but not limited to MS and Apple predatory advertising and FUD.

The fact *most* people just wanna play/work and not have to learn or try. That is fair enuf.
They also dont mind being the bitches of predatory multi national companies. That's fair enuf too.

FYI the year of the Linux desktop (for me) was 2004.

Well im sorry to hear of your issues.
Many are against it you know.
MS' current and continuing stranglehold on software means they can lean on hardware manufacturers to make "Microsoft Certified" bits that make it difficult to install many linux distros on.

Sorry. Its OT.

Add
I will not waffle on about linux to everyone!

Edit sorry all ive found with my fooglefoo is a permissions issue with /lib/plymouth. Assign user to ot and it was good to go.

Code:
sudo chown -R $USER: /lib/plymouth
