Which class for a very new player?

Hi everyone,

I'm so happy to be joining this new community. I'm just beginning my journey into EQ so I wanted to ask for some input on what class you all recommend? I heavily lean towards spell caster in general, either supportive or damaging. I like to play in teams, so I also wanted to check if there were any classes that were in high demand for parties? I would rather not play a class which is boring/weak until late game, as I am trying to enjoy my ride up to the higher level content.
