Since my post in the relevant topic was deleted..

Rogean: (paraphrased can I'm not spending an hour finding the post)

I'm removing all the first kill titles because they're not classic. We will only be giving out titles that were obtainable in classic.

Just some text in a game brews.

Pretty sure his point isn't about the words on the screen (as in "OMG I want a title too!!11") but rather about consistency amongst those in control of the server.

Just for the record, I am not saying anything one way or another about anything along those lines, merely explaining what I think the original poster was getting at.

GMs bestowing titles after GM events was done in Classic. The only difference is that our GM events are different... as they should be. I don't see how this complaint is valid.

I certainly remember there being no titles before Kunark at the very least.

I don't mind custom titles at all, just mentioning that it was stated just a week or two ago that GMs would research what GM events / titles were available in classic and only grant those.

There were definitely custom titles given out when there were still plenty of GM events being run, prior to Kunark. Perhaps your server and staff was different. I know we had some nifty ones floating around on Fennin Ro though.

Whilst titles were classicly awarded, I think it's important to remember the rarity of titles. Having everyone have one just makes it like EQ live With "apprentice chef omnimorph of bristlebane"

This.

It seems like half the time I go the EC tunnel there's more people with titles than people without.

Okay, I'm sure there isn't more titles than non-titles, but there really is a ton of them sometimes.

Indeed, I can also say for certain that previous Kunark, on E'ci at least, there were four? GM events that I was online for or during where titles were handed out.

If your going to quote a dev, you need to quote exactly what they said, or don't do it, because I never said that phrase word for word.

I don't think I ever saw titles before BotB but then I was even more of a noob in classic live than I was here and I also played on a newer server (the nameless). *shrug*

I'll vouch for Reiker, I read that statement he quoted and it was almost word for word.

It said yall were removing all titles because many had received theirs through bug or exploit or something and you weren't giving any new ones out that weren't in classic.

I went back to thread and the only thing left up isn't word for word but it still basically means the same thing, the titles weren't classic so that's why they were removed. If that's the case, why add new custom ones?

There were a few non-classic titles floating around that were obtained through malfunctioning surnames and various things. These have been fixed and its easier to remove all of them at once.

No one that had a title was a title that was available to them in classic so they were removed.

I am a strong advocate for keeping the server as classic as possible, however I am more open to the improvement of the fantasy aspect of the game. Including new GM events.

I, unfortunately, did not get to witness many classic gm events, none in fact. Seeing new events happening is just more opportunity to do what I didn't get a chance to back in the day.

So bring it on in my opinion, 3 years down the road in velious how many of the 6 or so that have titles now, i assume is what you're referring to, do you think will be playing 2 maybe 3. It's a veteran status thing and I personally see no problem with it.

The events that I liked back in the day were things like the halloween and christmas events where everyone had a chance to participate. The events I've seen here do not reflect my memory of those events at all.

Go read up about the Firiona Vie event in kunark, it was very similar to the last one Mixxit just ran.

And who is this guy that thinks there are more people in EC with titles than without? I think you're confusing surnames with titles. I believe there are only 7 titles currently on the whole server.

"The events that I liked back in the day were things like the halloween and christmas events where everyone had a chance to participate."

I'm not sure when the imps and Santug became a Christmas tradition but i remember the first Holiday events i seen were Halloween and it was alot of fun plus good loot.

There are literally 7 people on the entire server with titles.

Yeah it sucks that there wasn't any reward for everyone who helped with the research, especially those who helped a lot in the thread, but the titles werne't given out to random people. It was given out to 5 people who were part of the original GM event that followed the GM around solving riddles for 5+ hours straight, and who participated in the research over the following week + 1 person who 'happened to be there' but was extremely helpful in the thread and in coming up with theories with us.

Plus most titles on live were exactly that, someone who just happened to be there.

Don't post much on R&F (obvious reasons). First, Spoolie i'd like to say you're a pretty cool guy in game. But my question is who are you talking about that didn't contribute and was just "sucking GM dick"?

Cyrano, Pyrocat, Quadian, and I all helped Ghaz. Go back to the thread and look, everyone had put in time and effort. Hell this dude Dildor ran around RPing perfectly (annoying evil Necromancer), but ended up disappearing on us eventually.

I didn't post much on the forums because during that week I had Final exams. Most of my links were directed toward Ghaz when I found them at school studying. I read a lot of the stuff, googled, a bunch of stuff, ran across the Norrath with selos for everyone in the group multiple times.

So please do not think that any one of us is "undeserving". Most people who know me know me to be quite a nice person, but seriously guys?

The funny thing is, this is exactly how it went down on live =P. Not everyone got titles, not everyone got GM event items at all. People get lucky ALL THE TIME. I'm gonna say it and it's shitty but it really isn't fair. But that was classic EQ =P. And honestly the truth? I was just glad I was apart of it. It sucks that you weren't and I'm sorry for that, but there WILL be other events.

Also, if you really want to quest, Mixxit had said there will be future events, something to the extent of one each expansion/zone release or whatever. So watch out for them. And also, i'm positive they've learned from this event to make sure to be able to tell more people. People make mistakes =P.

Finally, yes there are seven titles. The five mentioned in the OP and I have seen two "the Lorekeepers" titles for a kithicor event.

Anyway, have a nice day! :)

ya one day following the GM around, what about the week and half of listening to the GM stories and following a goblin around in high keep fucking searching that stupid journal. only to log on and follow the bard around and try and find the king of the elves to the stupid gator in the swamp to the guardian of the rift to fucking nothing. sucks i wasted so much time on it for nothing. just bitter/jealous is all.

Ugh yeah that sucks dude >.<, you should hear Pyrocat's story about losing a GM title on live cause he LD'd while the GM was passing out titles lol... He's recited that to me a few times.

I miss my old title on EQLive. That, when coupled with a prefix and suffix, made my name nigh impossible to read.
