Not sure what post it would be in but IIRC a couple years ago one of the devs/staff members mentioned that there were a lot of changes to be coded into the next iteration of Green. Obviously, as we know the people responsible for that have real lives, jobs, responsibilities, and other hobbies. They don't get paid to do this.

We've recently seen a couple of patches making changes earlier in the classic era along with Nilbog saying that these would be the case in "future iterations of the server". So I think you are right...they have a bunch they're slogging through and they recently started to have the free time/motivation to do some of it. Once all of that is done I would imagine we'll see the plans for a new Green.

Sure hope we do finally get a new one; we've needed one for over a year now. We rush towards Velious then let it ride for 3+ years afterwards. In hindsight should have stayed in Kunark for at least a year before moving into Velious, giving more guilds a shot at VP, if the plan is a 5+ year server. Best way to run p99 - the server is just wiped during a random point within six months after a solid three year period. Give other's a chance to experience the progression before they die of old age or totally lose interest; and for us veterans, give us the chance to do some things differently.

The heroes journey has a ton of players, nearly half the total number of daybreak's everquest live total daily average player base but not everyone wants to play a custom everquest. I played it and it was definitely fun but it is not what i am going to invest my time into for the long run and i think most the people there would also leave for a new P99 server regardless if velious locked or PoP locked. P99 with a server that does unlock luclin and PoP would bring all walks of life everquest players to P99. P99 has been the greatest servers. I even enjoyed P99 when it had all the bugs back in 2009. A new P99 server that only goes to velious would still be the greatest server yet imo, but if luclin and PoP is guaranteed for later, it would be the best of the best of all times.

Contracts have language in them that says the terms are binding on successors and assigns, including unaffiliated successors/assigns. So when Daybreak sold the IP, the purchaser would've been made aware of the contract during the sale transaction and that it would be bound by the terms. As a result, if they tried to just revoke the contract for no reason, P99 would almost certainly be able to win a case claiming promissory estoppel, breach of contract, etc. Like...you wouldn't even get past the initial motion to dismiss stage. It would be tossed out and P99 would win.

So yeah the contract does mean shit. And it's why P99 wouldn't go and, say, add PoP to the server. Because then the current IP holder could claim breach of contract and revoke the deal.

I started on green about a year ago. Enchanter. Level 40 now since I’m casual. If a new server drops, I’d probably go enchanter again. Maybe Necro? I just like to be able to explore and solo unconventional camps.

What class will you be rolling on p99 Gold ?

I've never actually played one, but I feel like a Halfling Druid might be one of the strongest starter picks. You get ports, SoW, snare, root, animal charm, solid solo potential, and the ability to quad kite etc. Ports for tips too; and don't seem to stuck without Kunark 50-60 levels.

Halflings also get an EXP bonus, so with some effort and the right leveling route, one could maybe hit some camps faster than most other classes. Plus, there are quests like the WC cap that is always in demand. I'm sure there's probably tons of other quests they would be the best class for, given the right knowledge. Also track.. definitely a strong starting contender..

Too bad they just dont seem that fun in dungeons. I always think that I rarely /who all druid when it comes to grouping. They are fine though if already there =P

I might end up as a Dark Elf Necromancer because killing guards is just so satisfying the whole way haha. I'd rather play as Iksar but mayybe the hide + FD might be cool instead of the occasional /q I remember doing many years ago

Druid and Bard tracking was terrible on Green until well in to Velious. I remember the "timeline" showing it being improved a lot sooner than it was on Green, but they got to it eventually.
