My observations about this (helps to know the lore behind Wes Watson which I won’t get into here because it’s too long):

- It’s so funny how bodybuilders act like their arms don’t straighten beyond 90 degrees. Eric is acting like Wes is so insecure about his height (and he is), while narrating sitting with deliberately 90 degree arm bends trying to make that look normal. Just straighten your arms sometimes bro. Your biceps will still look huge, it’s ok. Do you think every time you straighten your arms you lose like 10k followers or something? Lol

- Wes is so insecure about his height that people have caught in the recent past that he was wearing platform shoes that add 1.5-2inches in height while also being designed to look discreet about the lift. I’ve always found this funny because you’re going to have to take those shoes off eventually with the girls you (pay) to sleep with, Wes. Or do you wear your high heels in bed too lol

- Wes Watson’s voice sounds like he missed his calling to do muppet shows. That man’s voice box was made to have his hand up a puppet’s ass putting on a play. Same goes for Greg Doucette lol

- I never understood why so many bodybuilders get upset and standoffish when Eric comes over to check their height and weight. He has gotten in way too many near fights just by asking to confirm in public

- A minor thing but it takes a douchebag to work out in a public gym with no shirt on. I get enough of bro’s fapping to their own reflection in the locker room as I have to go past. It’s frankly embarrassing for someone who’s over the age of 30 to be acting like one of those 18yr old bro’s who takes his shirt off lifting with his friends when the gym is slow

It’s sad but I bet my hypothesis that every time a bodybuilder influencer straightens their arms they lose viewers probably isn’t that far off. There are that many dumb suggestible 16-25yr old bro’s out there where as soon as you straighten your arms they think “wow this guy ain’t big” or “wow this guy looking kinda mid”

It’s crazy how much people have to min/max to get followers. Like not only do you have to be borderline killing your self with the amount of compounds you have to stay on year round, but also you can’t even ever stand like a normal person on camera, or it costs you literal money. Lol I like attention but I could never rely on it for money, no thanks

Convinced my dad to do a movie night so I could see this movie, and it didn’t take much convincing because he is very big on outdoor survival. Tonight was the first night he could do it

Just got back from watching it. Pretty good. Some of the characters were really annoying but it was supposed to be a group of maladjusted convict adults so I guess that was intended

They keep getting picked off one by one by highly aggressive wolves and the elements. I think they only end up killing one single wolf the entire movie

Anyway, my dad had a much better strat to take on a wolf 1v1 than the scene quoted. He suggested jamming thick sticks into one’s jacket sleeve parallel to the arm. They’d have to be at least an inch thick though so it would be a tight rigging, maybe tying them around the arm as well

Then offer the arm to the wolf to clamp down on. Have the knife tied in the other hand and give a few hard stabs to the neck and side as it bites the arm. Wolf is out of the fight for good. Continue with multiple wolves if possible. But realistically they would be ripping your legs from behind if in a pack. For some reason in the movie there are a couple 1v1’s

But dad’s strat is still better than this strat

This dexascan was taken the same time as that last blood test, one week before the half marathon, first week of Jan 2025

I am surprised I was able to do an 8m/mi average at 17% bodyfat, that is a lot of dead floppy saggy weight to carry for 13miles

These past two weeks I’ve been dieting down kinda hard for summer. It hasn’t been too bad though. Before I was doing like 4 eggs, toast, or big egg sandwiches, which I switched to 2 hard boiled eggs and a low sugar greek yogurt for breakfast. And instead of huge plates of rice and chicken/steak from places like panda for lunch, I switched to just like a salad wrap with extra chicken, and later in the day a power bar if my stomach feeling hungry and some fruit (berries) when I get home from work

And at night always just chicken, veggie mix, and a tiny half cup of rice. Along with a half cup of mixed nuts. It ended up coming out to like a 3/4 reduction in carbs and like an ~600-800k reduction in calories per day from my prev eating

And I figured with so little carbs my workouts would suck and I’d have no energy. But after only a few days my body seems to have switched to burning fat as alternate fuel source and completely disregarded carbs. I feel like I have even more energy than before. I have been losing a lot of fat, I just never realized how well of a fuel source that is

And with the tons of protein (I do 2-3 protein shakes/day at 25g per) and 3x the normally daily Metamucil fiber powder, I pretty much never have any hunger pangs on this. I would normally say this is amazing and I’ll do it for the rest of my life, but once I run low on fat, my body is going to either start crashing or eating muscle I’m guessing. So dunno what I’m going to do then, but something will have to change when I don’t have a plentiful fat surplus (which is actually amazing energy when burned!) to draw on

Genetics are so weird to me

Like my aunt has drank alcohol like a fish and smoked like a chimney, and is now in her 70’s still drinking and smoking away

There is something in her genetics protecting her against cancer (she’s only had some minor skin cancer from sun tanning through the 70’s and 80’s with only “tanning lotion”) and I don’t know what those genes are

But I am not as big of a believer when it comes to genetics and being fat or fit. IMO that is 80 or 90% your choices, and the rest genetics

But protection from cancer and illnesses, that seems to be like majority genetics, secondary is life choices

The biggest example of why it’s about genetics that I’ve seen was this amazing doctor and human being that I stumbled upon, who led a very healthy and active lifestyle, and so when he was diagnosed with an aggressive stage 4 cancer and given 6 months to live, he wasn’t too worried in this vid: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=6463REbh2HM

First timed run since the half-m and when my stomach started rumbling I figured I just did a messy crap before I left, I have nothing left in me, so that has to be a fart. Time to fire up the fart jet pack and get a speed boost!

Then I realized right before I let loose NOPE NOPE NOPE! I don’t trust that fart

So I held it in. And the rumbling grew and grew. I had to slow down and stop early, wanted to go to 5mi, instead I had to stop at 3 AND do the walk of shame home (I always run home normally but I was considering having to run to the ditch to take an impromptu shit)

When I got in I painted the bowl. Never trust a fart, especially when running

Next time will be better. Was holding up good, energy wise, for being on a calorie deficit

My grandma is 98 this year. Smoked her whole life. Genetics are a crazy thing when it comes to some things.

im pretty fit, and healthy and so i have been judgemental against people who are not.

But i saw a thing that said that some people burn calories more than others, and they gave an example like, some when they sit naturally sit, others shake their legs etc tap their feet, and that actually burns calories, those people are more prone to be thinner.

And while watching I realized that the whole time my 2 feet were moving like a hummingbird wings as I was watching this stupid thing on tv for the last hr at 11pm, and thought well shit i guess I am genetically lucky.

Still a conservative though.

Only in regard to the weird cultural attitude towards health and oppression

There was someone that did a deep dive into it, and apparently there is some scholarly and historical backing to the attitude. I wish I could find the video because he had really cited a lot of sources

But the gist of it is that communism (from my limited understanding) is about empowering the working class and fighting all these forms of oppression. And unfortunately there seems to be this weird modern day attitude amongst some communists that fitness is a form of oppression. This is because a fit, strong person is in a better position to intimidate, physically control or oppress others even if that isn’t their intention

And so there is this attitude of people shouldn’t get fit because it COULD lead to oppression of others easier….or something

I’m not sure if it’s also an issue with empathizing with those that aren’t able bodied, or even a jealously thing like “I’m not going to get fit because I don’t want others to be jealous of me”

I don’t really understand any of it. All I suspect is that if a person like me went onto pro-communism communities and exclusively talked about personal physical self improvement, I would NOT be a liked or popular fellow in that community, for whatever reason. I probably wouldn’t be hated either, but I definitely wouldn’t be liked

Politics has infested movies, and gaming, and religion, and business, and all these other things

But health and wellness is about as apolitical as it gets, or at least should be. And from a survival standpoint, the closer that both sides are coming to blows, the even more crucial fitness becomes! I mean, there’s a reason that both police and military have fitness requirements

Some people are like “civil war looms! The revolution is upon us!” Ok then why are you still so goddamn out of shape? Do you want to die right at the start of this revolution? And what’s even worse, is that for every minute until your death you’ll be a walking pure liability for your friends and fellow militia? Someone they have to babysit as you huff and puff your way along?

yeah, i get it, it has been my experience your average trump supporter cannot handle a mere flight of stairs, though. i am sure that is an exception, given the stats, math rarely lies. i don't necessarily believe stats on the left, given the state's bias. the right should not, either. feel free to take that as propaganda, it is irrelevant in 99.99% of cases.

the challenge is: you get shot the same if the person shooting you is out of shape. muscles ain't making anyone bulletproof, not that you were claiming they do. i am a pro-2a person, despite the fact that i have no respect for any amendments or the constitution in the first place, but you can bet your ass it'd be cited in a hypothetical court case. women, without even considering if trans women are women, are a fine example of why this is necessary. gun rights are women's rights, esp. in a country as psychotic as america. guns are an equalizer.

does it make a difference if the gun gets knocked out of the fight? sure, yeah. but firearms became popular for a variety of reasons. accessibility is one of them.

i don't think most people consider it in the context of a hypothetical civil war, that's a different ball game altogether. it's mainly about the immediate threat regardless of what form it takes.

I look at it like life is a game of inches. And sometimes it’s only an inch between life and death

Picture poor war torn Gaza. Rubble of buildings everywhere. I don’t think a lot of people realize how hard it is to scramble along the loose rubble of a collapsed building. What kind of balance you need. How many calories you will be burning. How winded you will get

Hell, even someone as athletic as me underestimated until I got lost and off trail on my state’s highest mountain, and ended up scrambling along the loose shale on some slope. I started a mini avalanche, I slipped and fell repeatedly cutting up the sides of my legs. And what it took out of me! It felt like that scramble took a mile of hiking’s worth out energy out of me, to just get through

And I’m picturing a drone flying at my head ready to explode. Maybe they already have the tech to where they can’t be dodged. But maybe the pilot has an itchy trigger finger and didn’t anticipate that someone is agile enough to try to juke it. And they do. And instead of exploding their head it just hits their shoulder and it’s a survivable wound. That’s the inch in the game of inches

It’s not just cardio though. It’s agility. It’s core strength. Even gun battles are going to involve some movement. And the terrain is likely going to be super shitty, the city equivalent of bushwacking

This completely proves my point. I am literally the ONLY person commenting this particular thing about this recent police use of force:

I’m not going to link the bodycam footage although it is not all that bad. In the footage, this fat, portly cop approaches a black man who is above average physique and having a complete psychotic break, including the black man yelling religious preoccupation delusions the entire fight

The black man completely man handles the shit out of the fat officer. Pummeling him repeatedly with his fists after a taser fails to stop him. At one point the black man even trips and makes a loud “OOF!” Sound as he falls backwards completely onto his ass and back. But the fat, winded, out of shape police officer is completely unable to capitalize on it and simply stands there until the black man gets up and resumes attacking him

It needs to be said though, that the officer was no doubt fearing using his gun due to the inevitable legal and public opinion fallout that comes with shooting an unarmed black man, even if that man is attacking the cop

This concludes with the black man getting the cop on the cop’s back, climbing over him, getting to his police cruiser, stealing it, and going on a high speed chase that results in him being shot and killed by police later


My question is: when you have to put your own life, and the lives of your friends and co-workers with you on the line every single day….

You can also easily get knocked out trying to stand up because most people try to stand up by taking their hands and placing them on the ground in front of them, exposing their head and face to a punch or kick

most women can't keep up with fitness standards that are set for men, so if your goal is to see women in uniform then you have to lower the standards

as far as the fat cop, the hours are long, the job is stressful, you're not getting along with your wife as good as you used to, the electric bill is 25% more than last year, you didn't get the promotion that you thought you should get and your kid's hair is 4 inches tall and dyed like a rainbow

But Wendy's is on the way home, you'll get exactly what you want, it will be delicious and satisfying enough with a couple mixed drinks to lull you into slumber so that you can sleep enough to face the next day

you get slow and you get fat, and you still pass the fitness standards that were lowered for women, or your superiors just pass you anyway because to tell you that you're overweight wouldn't be politically correct, or your superiors will have to face the fact that they are fat netflix and grease addicted slobs just like you are

I used to just leave my keys in my locker at one of my gyms because it was full of only white people

The gym with the pool though is in a different poorer part of town and has blacks and Hispanics so there I carry my keys in my pocket all workout there and just leave my swimsuit, goggles, and some edibles in a plastic bag in my locker

I only carry my keys because I have my wallet in my truck and it has a few hundred dollars cash always in case I need to bribe a city official or police or do a quick drug deal or pay off a hooker. Just for the pertinents

And I only carry my keys because I’m lazy and don’t want to deal with getting one of those temporary plastic keys. But most gyms including mine do have a spot where you can leave small items like a wallet or car keys in like a tiny box and get one of those plastic keys you turn like the water parks have for your stuff when you go on slides

Or else bring your own lock for the bigger lockers in the locker room, that’s what most people do

I bring and carry a towel of my own anywhere that doesn’t have complimentary towels (one of my gyms does). On leg day if I for whatever reason ran on the gym’s treadmills I would go through two beach towels in terms of sweat :/

Carrying a towel is great not only to stay dry but to drape over equipment like “this is mine you fucks. I’m just going to get a drink from the fountain for the 10th time because this preworkout gives me horrible cotton mouth. Don’t steal my bench or I will FITE you”

Was going around a truck pulling into the park and went a route near a tree I don’t normally take, caught my foot on a root concealed in shadow and ate shit going full speed right onto asphalt

This is all one giant scrape (already cleaned it as best I could) and my left wrist a little dinged. Still finished the last 3 laps fast pace while bleeding and with no water because my plastic bottle also broke in the fall

I get off on pain a little (in a non sexual way), so this scrape is still shallow enough to be quite delicious, endorphin wise

Gave a thirsty Chuckwalla lizard water right from the bottle on my hike today. Didn’t record it because I’ve already gotten that on video, but this time it was interesting. This one was skinnier than most and literally charged right at me, then started aggressively biting at the bottle in between drinks as if to try to scare me to drop it. I was thinking to myself as I stared at the brave little lizard….

Cousin asked me to help him train for a hard day trip hike he’s doing at the end of this month

So yesterday I took him up (his first time) what is considered one of the hardest hikes in the state. The entire 2nd half from past the beginning 1/4ish point is very steep to the point of bouldering/scrambling/bushwacking and that goes on for 2ish miles. But the view is worth it

Cousin had to stop often which killed our time and made me worried about my water situation. I try to always be way over on water so that way I can give some extra to people/lizards/lizard people. But I went completely through the gallon + 1 liter of water I had brought by the time we got back to the base

It ended up taking us roughly 3.5ish hours to summit at his pace. I wish it were closer to my house so I could go solo, I bet I could get to the summit in 1 hour. But it’s a full hour drive from me so I don’t mind posting pics since it will never be a regular thing some stalker could find me on

Pics are mostly scenery and my cousin and some random dudes climbing one of the steeper parts (and yes that is the only way up at that part). I didn’t get pics of me because cousin was struggling too hard to ask him to do photo ops of me. I do not know any girl who can do this hike

Lol ty and ya, it had been years since I had done it, so I didn’t remember that well, and I was musing the exact same thing out loud: “is this a hike or is this a climb?”

A random hiker there almost had a tarantula hawk wasp land on them and I mentioned to them that, while they are supposedly very passive for a wasp, the tarantula hawk actually has one of the top 3 most painful stings in the entire world. That got that group to pay a bit more attention to it ;)

I also had my giant arm wound open because it wasn’t scabbing after being bandaged for two days so I figure keep it open to air and it will. Bad idea for a number of reasons: 1. It remained gooey all day and night (and still is) 2. It got scraped by both sticker plants and rocks as I was climbing and 3. I had about 3 different groups of people express concern and ask if I was ok after noticing it

The first time I had honestly forgotten about it so when they asked if I was ok my first thought was to be offended thinking like “do I look fucking tired to you? Do you see my cousin is the one huddled in the shade panting and I’m standing here getting sun on my bald head waiting for him looking bored? Of course I’m ok!”

Then my cousin said “oh that’s not from this trip” pointing to my arm. And I was like “oh shit yea sorry I’m fine this is actually 2 days old” lol

About a year or so ago I started doing acrobatic yoga. My girlfriends been doing it for years and finally convinced me to start. It's been pretty fun - a nice way to meet new people and an interesting way to apply skills like strength, balance, and momentum. I actually now look forward to leg days at the gym as I try to improve my basing ability.

This last week I was at the Dutch Acro Yoga Festival, where people and teachers from all over the world came together for a week. There were some serious acrobats there, like professional circus level performers. Had a great time and learned a bunch.

Yoga is pretty tough even without acrobatics. For sure any skilled acrobat, just like any skilled gymnast, are going to be pound for pound some of the strongest people around

I always wanted to be able to do the “flag” move where you hold a flag pole with each hand and stretch and hold your body horizontal like a human flag. But I should settle for just trying for a muscle up on a pull up bar first lol

I had done many a double back roundhouse. But mine would be a gimp, badly timed first one as je-bait. Then when they rush in confidently towards my exposed back, I’d whip into another much faster one to their face (same leg though). Other kids would fall for it every time

Always felt like there was something going on with my stomach near my belly button, for years now. My abs never looked quite right

Well, finally got the nerve to see a Dr who ordered an ultrasound for me. And turns out, I was right: I’m pregnant

With a small little hernia. I decided to name him Hermie. He’s just a widdle guy, and he’s shy, you can’t see him at all, nor does my belly button protrude or anything

Right now, he’s less than 1 cubic cm. But like any baby boy, he’s going to get bigger. Sometimes when I’m bent over at an angle picking up a 45lb plate at the gym or somethin, I can feel him move and kick a little. He’s going to grow up to be a soccer player boy I think, my little Hermie

Hernias are incredibly common in the fitness community when doing heavy lifting; your abdominal wall is always going to be extremely thin compared to other muscles. What frustrates me is I actually train abs consistently, unlike fitness influencers like Greg Doucette who says he doesn’t feel he needs to train abs because they are used in so many dynamic lifts like deadlifts and squats (which I also do). But regularly training abs didn’t save me. I think it actually happened due to some bad coughing fits I had years ago tbh

My uncle has had a hernia for like two decades now. With baby boy Hermie’s size, a lot of guys just ignore them. My issue is that I’m about them aesthetics, and carrying Hermie around is fucking with that. It pushes my stomach out very slightly, making me look a tiny bit fatter than I really am. Which is annoying, because I go through a lot to keep my fat down to a certain low amount, mostly for the looks

So I might get that surgery where they do the mesh net. But I can’t get it done before I go to SD for a week at the end of this month. So I’m going to still get as aesthetic as I can before then, and maybe get the surgery sometime after I get back. Sucks to have to take a month off to recover. But lost muscle is very easily regained. The RP fitness channel did a video on muscle memory, and lost muscle can be re-grown at up to 10x the rate of original growth

So I might still do a progress pic in less than 2 weeks before the trip. But for now, here’s the ultrasound summary. And who said men can’t get pregnant? Of course there’s no father, so I guess I must be the male version of mother Mary :)

I had a buddy who was in a car crash and developed a hernia from it. There were a couple surgery options for the repair, the doctor even told him to consider NOT repairing it since it wasn't a big hernia, and wasn't causing him issues other then the little bump by his belly button.. Anyways he chose the mesh option you are considering cause it was the least invasive. Long story short- He sneezed at work about a year later and blew the mesh out...

I try to go hike at 11am, closed for rescue. Ok, I’ll go kill an hour at the gym. Come back, still closed at noon. Ok I’ll go get my truck washed and waxed. Then I go chill at home for a bit, come back at 1:30pm

And it’s funny because I have a war within my own consciousness where I hate AI, how advanced it’s getting, how it’s going to take over, and how there will eventually be two groups of people: those that know how to take advantage of AI to help them in their pursuits (whatever those may be), and those that don’t, or choose not to. And eventually the gap between those will be like people who have the internet vs people who don’t

But I have a completely OPPOSITE view when it comes to bio hacking, which is just another form of technology, albeit chemical engineering. Where I am 100% for the idea of bio hacking the body to be able to do crazy shit, or I’m also interested in the idea of longevity (not necessarily living forever but for me it would be being able to work out intensely for longer into my lifespan)

And there will eventually be the same thing: two groups of people, enhanced vs natty. The enhanced will be pulling further and further ahead not just in performance, but also risk management, because as the drugs get more sophisticated, the risks will go down. For me, nada other than runkeeper to track run times sometimes

I hear those watches are getting crazy. My stepdad’s Apple Watch will apparently report whenever he has a heart arrhythmia, and supposedly can track your sleep and let you know if you have sleep apnea or something

You’ll have to let me know what you can track if you get one. I like the idea of min/max’ing personal stats same as a RPG game char ;)

I spent 2 hours trudging against the flow on the river and my tracker did not recognise the activity nor convert it into step equivalents. Next time I shall hire a catamaran design - they look to fly through the water. I also found a camping spot on an island accessible only by boat.

I have an hour to kill here at the airport so I want to comment to myself

Not only is it a thing, but it is also heavily influenced by area. San Diego on the beach was off the freaking charts this year. I have been going to the same San Diego beach gym (twice renamed and under new ownership) for the past 12ish years there when on vacation with their 1 week pass

And it was so crazy of a culture shock this year for some damn reason, I still can’t shake it. I’d walk in any time of day or night and think, did I just walk on the Mr Olympia stage? I didn’t realize my tryout was today I guess, shoot I should have oiled up

It’s always been crazy in there but this time I would literally be pacing around this giant gym looking for a particular piece of equipment and it would take a half hour of passing people before I was like oh shit, there’s someone smaller than me. I’m not nearly the biggest guy at my home gym either, but I’m at least top 30%ish. But this year, I was sub-1%

I’m assuming anyone who wasn’t a literal fitness model just felt too intimidated to go to this insane glamour fest of a gym this year. I mean literally every dude there not only looked huge and on PED’s, but most had flawless physiques I couldn’t think of a single critique for

It wasn’t all bad, however because the WOMEN. Oh my dear lord. First off the ones working there not only were insane physiques but gorgeous model faces 10/10 and I have high standards. And the ones working out were so shameless. I counted 3 separate times these 10/10 physique women with perfect asses were on the stairmaster in these super thin very tight pants that, when they sweat, basically became translucent. So then it was clear as day they were in their underwear and I could tell you what color and fucking logo was on their skimpy underwear they were working out in. I almost wanted to go over and say “ma’am I dunno if you realize but you pants have sweat through and everyone can see your underwear” but I figured they knew what they were doing

And they didn’t have an army of gawking bro’s like they would back home because there were so many that everyone was like desensitized

They had recently taken over an entire 2nd floor of the pavilion, and the entrance to the gym was in this new area which could not even been seen at all by the people at the front desk. Not at all. Which means any drunk Bro Schmo off the beach could walk in in his boats shirts, put his beer down, and begin lifting and no one would know

I had to flag down a distracted staff member trying to get checked in. Then she’d say can I help you? And I’d be thinking Jesus you are so disgustingly pretty that I forgot what I was going to say. Is that really your face? Christ…”I have the week pass, just trying to get checked in”

She’d ask the name, look at the computer puzzled, and say “you’re good”. I’m thinking I know you didn’t check me in there. You didn’t click anything. Then 30 mins later I’d be passing by the same check in desk with different staff who wouldn’t care in the slightest if I had just shown up or been there

I would venture probably 50% of the people there probably weren’t paying. Which is why the weekly pass keeps going up from year to year. Honest people like me carrying the dishonest ones on my back. And it shouldn’t be this way, they are much bigger than me….

In the northeast right now there is pretty heavy smoke coming down from canadian wildfires, which are the redheaded stepchild of west coast wildfires. It makes the sun look really cool cause you can just look directly at it, and it looks like a big orange ball. This is the biggest “controversy” in the fitness world atm. And it’s not really much of a controversy, when it’s basically the entire world’s opinion vs a few people’s

Some dude named Hussein Farhat is another in a long line of fake Natty’s. He didn’t do shit for all of puberty, and ended it looking like a twig. Then he put on a colossal amount of pure lean muscle in just 3 years while LOSING fat. And of course claimed it was a “natural” transformation, no PED’s

Normally this is something you see dozens of times per day online. But for whatever reason one of the biggest influencers in the industry Greg Doucette decided to go hard backing this guy. Now apparently he is an equal partner in Greg’s HTLT supplement line, with him and Greg claiming he was natty, and Greg saying he made the crazy gains he did because he had “1 in a million” genetics

It’s a weird hill for Greg’s reputation to die on. Because the entire world can plain as day see things don’t add up:

1. Someone with 1 in a million genetics would not be looking like a twig by the end of puberty. Guys with super athletic genetics (usually black, let’s be real), look like jacked adults before they even get through puberty. Crazy muscle genetics don’t suddenly “turn on” at some random point of your life past puberty

2. It’s incredibly difficult to put on something like 50lbs of lean muscle with zero fat. It’s possible, but not in that length of time. Eating in any kind of a caloric surplus necessary to gain muscle will also gain fat. And eating in a deficit will result in significantly slower muscle building, when natty. With PED’s all this goes out the window however, especially since anyone can take any dose of anything, or stack multiple things. Then the sky is the limit basically

3. Greg is now churning out videos showing the guy’s blood work to prove he’s natty, which is stupid and everyone knows it. Any idiot can take a bunch of PED’s, put on a lot of size, then come off and show “natural” blood markers. Doesn’t prove shit

4. This guy with “1 in a million” genetics suddenly has basically plateau’d. Everyone knows it’s because he stopped the PED’s to prove natty. But for someone with “1 in a million genetics” as Greg says, this wouldn’t happen

Never. Heard of it though, most of the gyms I go to have a Pilates class. I just see the word Pirates every time and get disappointed when I remember it’s not a Pirates class

I’ve done a “warrior yoga” class only at my friend’s fancy gym. It’s pretty brutal. Heated room where you sweat buckets, and I sweat more than most, and start slipping around like a wet seal trying to hold poses on my stupid rubber yoga mat they give me

And the pace is fast and the poses/exercises are tough. Well most are. I tend to do better than everyone else in the class at air squats due to being so used to squatting heavy weight regularly. And arm stuff with the small 5lb dumbbells they give you I crush at. But everything else, especially stuff where you are holding a downward dog but swinging a leg back or to the side I really struggle. I just have too high and too heavy a center of gravity compared to those petite girlies all around

Still a hard good workout though

I actually go that slow on the Eccentric (aka the “lowering”) movement of squats and literally no. one. else. does. At least no one that I see in gyms. In fact, the most common advice anywhere is to not only drop your squat into the next rep, but “bouncing” a little at the bottom for assistance to come up is safe and ok. And it is. But IMO I think for overall strength and stability building slow eccentric is best. On everything, not just squats. Drop and bounce if you want to show off or hit a PR

I don’t go that low though, being heavier and older, too much stress on the knee joints. But I do go parallel or slightly below

A little over a year ago I asked a question on Reddit fitness that started a bit of a firestorm of debate

I got the idea to ask when I saw a very heavy woman approaching the summit of a hike I regularly do that is rated as “extremely difficult”. You really normally never see fat people on it because of the challenge. But this woman was, and nearly at the top. She was probably at least 230ish lbs and not that tall

She was struggling, and because of her large size and how difficult the hike is, I wanted to say something like “way to go” and give her a head nod or something

Reasons why I wanted to:

- She is essentially carrying a weight vest full of fat on her frame, adding extra challenge that I simply don’t have

- Her leg muscles might be somewhat used to that weight, but they are NOT used to carrying that weight up that steep of an incline

- Her ability to breathe and oxygenate her blood is likely sub-standard due to her size and slow metabolic health

Essentially this is equivalent to: strapping a weighed vest, putting on one of those fallout looking training masks that imitates high altitude breathing, and insisting that someone hike on underdeveloped legs. And no one does that shit. At least not all 3 of those things at once

So it is UNDENIABLY impressive her ability to finish the hike. Moreso than for just about anyone else there

Why I chose not to say anything:

- Didn’t want her to feel singled out for her weight. Or reminded that she is fat

When I asked Reddit, I was surprised to see the consensus not only agreeing with my choice to say nothing, but saying that congratulating her would be seen as condescending and insulting

It’s a shame because it’s like “you have overcome an undeniable disadvantage….that politeness dictates I not comment on”. Whereas if a guy hiking it had a prosthetic leg, I’m sure everyone would be cool with myself and everyone else congratulating HIM, which I’ve even seen before

Coddling heavy people’s insecurities is frustrating sometimes…

Ate one of those chicken + broccoli + potatoes pre-prepared meals at the grocery store (they’re a bit better quality than the typical processed tv dinner tray) last night and got pretty fucking sick

Stomach was tying itself in knots for about 6 straight hours resulting in no sleep. Then when it was time to get ready for work the diarrhea came. I was pissing pure liquid (tried drinking Gatorade and water just to stay hydrated) out my ass at LEAST 15 different times, spaced roughly 30 minutes apart for the next 12ish hours

Obviously I called out of work. But in addition to pissing pure liquid out my ass for the ENTIRE FUCKING DAY today, I also had aches all over like I was super sore but muscles I hadn’t lifted. And zero energy. I couldn’t even get up to feed my cat, felt bad

That was pretty brutal. I am thinking of fishing the package out of my trash and bringing it to the grocery store and saying what gives! You fucks poisoned the shit outta me, literally. But I lack the energy for that as well, as it involves getting up

Also I have not been able to eat anything other than a protein shake since which I promptly pissed out my ass. I might have to miss a second day of work over this bullshit

The real purpose is selling leftover hot case scraps.

I had gotten food poisoning from a pre-packaged salad like 3 years ago where I was throwing up and having diarrhea, but that only lasted like 10ish hours

I still can’t eat and it’s been a full 24 hours since I poisoned myself. I heard things like rice and toast are good for upset stomachs, but I can’t even take more than a few bites before my stomach starts to hurt and reject it

What the hell did I get? E.coli or c.diff or some shit? How long is it going to take me to get my stomach microbes back to normal? I was also unusually cranky all day today and I’m assuming it’s because my gut health which affects mood has been thrown off significantly

This sucks. Man I would almost take any other medical symptom over this shit. Gonna go sit in my hot shower again since I’m too sick and weak to drag myself to the gym sauna…

But it was apparently 45 minutes early. As someone who is in the gym all the way up until close in the evenings, I would also have a big problem with this

When I used to work retail we had a “recovery” time to get the store completely back in order before we were allowed to leave. We had to work around the customers still in the store. We couldn’t just close the store down and kick everyone else out just to make our clean up time slightly easier

The one in Maui, Hawaii was for sure 24 hours. I know because it was always slammed when I tried going there on vacation, so out of frustration one day I came there at midnight figuring I would finally have my pick of any machine I wanted…and even then there were still like 30-40 people in the gym at midnight, mostly teens/young adults

Planet Fitness big issues for me are: no squat/deadlift racks which are a deal breaker. Crowded, dirty, but I never had issues with other people or staff there

It was also deliberately impossible to quit. The place in Hawaii said “oh no sir I’m sorry you need to come in to cancel your membership”. And I was like “well I’m back home not in Hawaii anymore and I can’t swim that far so…” and they were like “well then you will need to send us a letter”. And I was like “you mean an email because this is the 21st century?” And they were like “no a letter”. And I wanted to be like “What about a scroll? Do I need to write with a quill pen? Should I create a wax seal for my scroll quitting request? What about trying to fly my scroll there on the leg of a bird, like an African swallow?”

Which is why one of my favorite comments of the video above was someone mentioning not to worry about the employee threats to terminate the user’s membership, Planet Fitness doesn’t cancel memberships. Very true lol

I had to call my bank and request a stop payment to quit. And of course get a few spam calls and texts from Planet Fitness for the next few months saying “something went wrong with your last payment” like some clingy jilted ex-girlfriend stalker

Finally someone understands. Little story: I was in the gym sauna and this jacked Turkish looking dude came in and was a chatty Kathy. He said to me “why do you keep your head down like that, are you praying or meditating?”

And I said “Naw, I just like to aim my sweat in between the floor footboards. It’s my sauna mini-game I play. Kind of like, have you ever aimed at a dot on the car windshield as a passenger?”

Treadmill’s easier than outside though, the belt engine helps pull and there’s no wind resistance. I prefer outside but the last time I ran at night in smog so thick the streetlights were hazy, I was coughing like crazy after for 2 hours

I notice my stride is different on treadmill, more of a straight legged glide with the belt assisting. Unless it’s one of those recently lubed treadmills where the belt moves too much then my stride is all over the place like a wet slippery fish

Yea I never pay attention to it because it’s never been a problem but I do remember my last Dr visit when they did the blood pressure the nurse was like “yours is really good!” or something. I almost wanted to tell her “that’s surprising because I feel like to some degree my blood pressure spikes as soon as I walk in here because I dislike doctors due to their constant haughty condescending attitudes, and I dislike being here” but I kept my mouth shut

And yea I can see the cold thing. I like working out in cold but it doesn’t get nearly as cold here as it does there so I feel ya on that

Nah I’m 6’0 225. If they don’t have a gun, I don’t need a gun ;)

I love running. It’s really not so bad. It’s terrible to do to lose weight if already fat, I admit. But if someone is already fairly lean, then all they need to do is work out a speed where they feel comfortable and aren’t gasping for air, a speed they feel like they could continue all day if needed. Then just slowly increase that speed over time

I love to run outside and zen out. And I’ve seen all sorts of cool shit having done it a couple x/week for the past 6ish years. Crazy homeless dudes, wildlife, saw a UFO once running

Plus it’s a good potentially life saving skill if whatever is coming to kill ya can’t be stopped by bullets. A few pages back I posted a vid of people running from an erupting volcano where I stressed the number 1 rule for survival: cardio

Ty! Yea breugh, there’s a lot of me to oxygenate during cardio. There’s a reason the heavyweights gas out first of all the weight classes, no matter how shredded and fit

And I the heaviest I think I ever been. Will do a full body update in the near future but I been training a sad and concerning amount of hours since being humbled by those titans at San Diego ;/

Hell yea I’d take the 30 second fight. If I recall since it’s happened before, UFC refs don’t automatically disqualify you for running like a bitch. They have to warn you first, more than once. I should be able to run circles screaming and try to juke his attempts to cut me off for 30 seconds no prob

I was really into full contact sparring in TKD as a kid/teen. Sometimes those would get out of control and turn into basically fights, sometimes even against adults

Went to Jr Olympics twice, always used to win gold at state for sparring. Have about like 20ish gold medals from winning state sparring tourneys every few months

I have been able to use de-escalation skills to avoid the few times (usually drunk) people have tried to pick fights at bars or elsewhere. I consider avoiding a fight a win, and getting into a fight and winning is still a loss due to potential legal issues resulting from it. And of course injuries such as cutting one’s hands on the other person’s teeth, breaking bones on their skull, sometimes someone can get injured even decisively winning a fight

You are someone who is too stupid to understand the importance of avoiding fights huh? Looking forward to your future aggravated assault charge from flashing your gun at an unarmed person trying to look tough and losing your gun rights
