Best at farming? Probably halfling druid wielding a Wee Harvester.

Complex question. If you are going after something that spawns in a static place then Tuna nailed it. If you are looking for something that can appear anywhere in a zone (Forager cycle for example) then you are looking for something like a Druid (can both track and pet track after 55) or a ranger (largest tracking range, capable of soloing many things at higher levels).

this really depends on what you are talking about by farming (and if you mean solo or in a group). regardless, generally enchanter>shaman>>necro>mage>>everything else.

best all around farmer is almost certainly enchanter due to their ability to charm thereby soloing content meant for entire groups, crowd control, and pacify/invis/ivu through dungeons. they are able to do some pretty insane stuff, but it often relies on RNG with charm breaks resulting in certain death and corpse recovery.

shamans are the best high value item farmers because pound for pound they can kill things solo that simply cant be solo'd by any other class. this usually requires torpor, epic, malo, etc.... but if a mob is slowable and can be outhealed with torpor, they can pretty much solo it and likely do it reliably without risk of death (not so true of the high risk high reward of enchanters). they have minimal CC and ability to sneak through a dungeon, so this can be limiting however.

necros are extremely versatile and great farmers, but generally cant do the high value stuff that enchanter and shamans can do. due to the fact that many of their utility spells only apply to undead, they are slightly limited to zones with undead mobs. in those zones, they can do great, and get feign death which is very handy.

mages are decent farmers for easy stuff. the lack of CC and the pets inability to solo higher level mobs limits them in some ways, but for killing green cons with rare high value drops or just farming things like fine steel from paineel guards, they are the best (and most braindead) class to do it.

that said, every class CAN farm things, it just becomes more niche. druids and wizards are great for farming in outdoor zones or for stuff like ancient cyclops in SRO. they also can make decent plat porting people around. monk/warrior/cleric can all be used effectively in farming for stuff like fungi tunic.

Yeah it really depends.

Druid/Bard can PL people for a lot of money if you can become a reliable part of that market. They can also farm plat from killing lots of easy stuff.

Druid/Wizard can teleport people for money.

Enchanter is great at camping a lot of high value items like Chardok 2.0 loot, Sirens Grotto loot like the Seahorse haste belt, etc. But this is very high risk, high reward content. You need a good amount of skill, too.

Shaman is great at camping other kinds of items that sell well, like West Wastes Dragon loot, some Chardok 2.0 loot, etc. Shamans are a bit more consistent than Enchanters because their playstyle is safer, but they are very expensive to gear.

Necromancers are a little more limited in terms of fighting the kinds of mobs that Shamans and Enchanters can do, but they are still great money farmers, especially if you like killing guards. I think Necromancers can do Drusella (Spirit Wracked Urn) if you want a high value money camp, if you have the time to do it.

It really comes down to what you WANT to camp, and how much time you have available to play in general.

Also, some classes are great for farming if you like to farm in groups. Cleric always comes to mind. If you can consistently get groups that do high value money camps, they will generally want a cleric around of resing and healing. Same with Monk, they are useful for pulling some money camps like Fungi Tunic.

I think in classic its enchanter, but kunark its necro or monk because f killing all the trash that has the good loot.

In velious its back to the big boyo shaman and enc though, but mage epic can clear lots of the crystal caverns type areas well without having to think or do anywork.

Shaman is good once you’re fully twinked out, including torpor and epic depending on what you’re trying to go after.

Until then it’s enchanter and then Necro

Enchanter is the #1 answer. The amount of plat you can make at level 60 with virtually 0 gear is unmatched.

HOWEVER, I have made A LOT more plat on my monk vs on my enchanter. Duo king, Duo juggs, etc.

Enchanter is best at farming bosses but horrible at farming greens for plat

Mage is amazing for farming greens for plat but horrible at farming bosses

Shaman is probably the 2nd best at both if you're going to dump 100s of k in plat

Necro is probably 2nd best at both if you're trying to get by on a budget

The enchanter sword pet is actually really good at farming greenies. I don't have zumaiks yet but the 49 animation is really solid.

As long as you're willing to get hit and even then it generally pales in comparison to mage pets and even necro pets. I have not used the 55 enchanter pet however so maybe that compares better to thr other clases post 50 pets but I doubt it

49 enchanter animation max hit is 53, and would have 60% + haste depending on level. If I recall at 49 my mage pets were hitting for 56max and 60% haste. So pretty comparable damage wise at least. Mage pets are obviously better overall

you dont have get hit constantly with enc pet.. you just root the enemy and drag your pet near enough to get hit but stay out of range yourself.

I play 60 shaman with all the dots and torpor epic Malo jbb etc.

If I can slow it, I can kill it.

Malosini / Malo + root and I can CC by camp cycling, and I can crawl through dungeons without having to kill everything.

Best farm toon is actually a duo. Enchanter with full spellbook and shaman with full spellbook can pretty much do any content that doesn't require a CH chain. Paci your way to the loot with enchanter, grab a strong pet, slow with shaman and gg

Does this sound like an efficient way to farm greens? Do people just like to argue on these forums?

Except an enchanter can do all this without a shaman.

Maybe druid in DaP that power levels for cash and kites seafuries in between?

Probably the easiest maybe not the best tho.

I have a 60 necro i can do ok i just prefer stuff i can sell to a vendor because the type of thing i can camp for cash doesnt always sell quickly and i have no patience to sit in the tunnel for days.

Ima say druid but i get that others maybe technically better

Ench is definitely #1. Probably Shamans second? Necro was great in classic/Kunark, but there just aren't undead in velious. As for mage, I suspect druid is much better than mage if you know what you're doing.

Nonetheless, somehow I've made the most money on my ranger of all characters, but it's really only good if you're like in the 1% of rangers who know all the outdoor camps in and out. I've also made a lot on my monk as well.

Monk is definitely underrated especially if you're just flat out trying to make the most vendor junk cash as possible

I never do vendor trash. It is just never going to compete with a cash camp like king.

if for whatever reason i dont want to be getting hit by greens, which is exactly what you were concnered with, then indeed it does. frankly, the idea that getting hit by a green that big of an issue in the first place with the berserker line on your spellbar was pretty absurd argument in the first place.

This thread is in such a funny place. So I will address the original question.

The number one way to farm low to mid tier GEAR is to play a class that can solo vendor loot mobs.

This includes old world guards, hill giants, or specs for the most part.

Necros and monks are the best for this.

Necros have a large set of tools to accomplish this through pets, fear kiting, dots, invisibility, etc.

Monks can sneak vendor, which is huge as well as the ability to mow through most mobs with ease and a large heal every 6 minutes plus bandaging to 75% above 51.

All the other arguments are for classes that can farm mid and high level items solo or in duos/trios which is where you can make larger chunks of money, but you are dependent on named spawns and them having the loot you need and other players availability if needed.

Hope that helps.

Mages are better than necros at guards/giants and the like.
They can summon 10 slot weightless bags, their pets are a little better. Necros are much better against harder targets, that require that large skillset.

You hardly need to be killing undead mobs to farm as a Necro

Farming vendor trash on green is really annoying.

Get some friends and round robbin some good EC loot.

In that case it's best to play a class that's useful naked.

Ench qualifies. Necro is super stronk. So is druid, wiz, mag, clr.

And shamans. U have to go all organic paleo tho if u do shaman otherwise Brad will know and u will never get ur torpor spell.
