EverQuest pvp is pretty awful.

Jousting is lame

Some classes are just completely OP compared to others.

Some classes are completely worthless in PVP

The mechanics are dumb. There is a sliver of skill involved.

But it could be fun with some changes.

What unclassic changes would you do to make PVP more fun?

My suggestion? In EQOA, the ps2 version of EQ, classes could move while casting, although they would be forced to walk. PVPing (Dueling) in that game was actually a lot of fun. I think that would make a decent difference in making it more fun.

Other suggestions?

-Spawn at zoneline in zone you die in if killed via PVP
-Automatic grace periods in non raid zones
-Experience gained for kills
-Nerfs/Buffs (Bard spells easier to resist? Ranger nerf? What else would need to get nerfed/buffed)
-Casting classes can move at walk speed while casting (as mentioned)
-Bigger hit boxes for auto attacks to mitigate the need for jousting/giving people with better connections an advantage(Good change imo)
-Cancel Magic spell line pvp nerfed?

What are your suggestions to making EQ pvp not lame?

I played red the first day it was released and quickly realized how boring it would be. I'd love to play on the server but the current iteration of EQ PVP is just completely unappealing. Along with the population of 12 (Which we could fix if we made it fun!)

You can't. PVP in EQ is literally an afterthought. The Cracked! documentary is where I got that from. The team was shy of the Ultima Online approach.

EQ is a PVE game, you can tell because of the fantasy world the game takes place in. PVP games don't usually have that.

DAOC or Shadowbane are examples. Popular in their day but name me a single dungeon in them or town name.

Your saying there is NOTHING that could be done to make it more appealing? Even if we could change things?

The changes you are asking for already exist. Its called World of Warcraft. I know this isn't the answer you were looking for. Sorry.

Casting while moving would be too powerful. Melee would have no chance. Melee do have the advantage in Velious gear.

You should have to stand to cast. The bigger issue is that it's way too easy to interrupt. It's nothing like interrupt in PvE

EQOA was walk speed, so you would still be able to melee anybody casting. The real advantage i guess would be rooting your opponent and being able to cast on them while creating distance from yourselves.

Use WoW as a template but don't pander to people bitching about balance.

Wow arena/battle field maps and warmode is pretty good. Also everyone should just get a basic set of normalized stats per their class in pvp. So basically it only comes down to teamwork, level, class, skill, and abilities.

Also the one thing that was lazy that wow did was make city guards have a million hp and perma snare people.. npc guards should have the same pvp stats or only very slightly better, cities should only be relatively safe, not a complete safe haven. They went to far at the end if BFA.

Instant casting and move while casting sorta made wow more terrible. For like 1 or 2 signature abilities.. but it turned into lazy raid design and pvp is a little lamer for it needing to constrain to the pve game.

Red is the only server we could experiment with imo. The worst that could happen is we change something current red players didn't like, starting a mass exodus of it's 50 players to greener pastures.

(We already gave red the absolute shaft by rooting the dragons there)

When was the last time Vulak was killed on red?

After mischife Im 100% positive I would ike 5k% exp bonus, randoized loot tables (like mischife) with a reset after last man/guild standing.

I know I would enjoy this now. I always thought i would but worried it wouldn't work, but I know now it would be exactly what I want/need.

Its just an old server. Server can't last forever. There may just be a thing with mmorpgs where they need to be reset. Even if infinite better expansions could be released, a server will get boring.

A new red, the same way it is, copy and pasted will still be fun because its new. It would be like playing blue forever. I'll play 5 more green servers if p99 is around that long.

Also, if we make a Sullon team server with 2 teams (Good vs evil) instead of 3; come on guys if you join good team you get bonus points. Be against the trend of cool. I joined good team because I wanted to join the weak team. Buddhist robes look dumb to everyone except for those who wear them.

Wows two team system is garbage. Once one team is more dominant its over. (Unsure of these days.) That's why a 3 team system is required. However, 3 teams on classic pvp doesn't work well in the beginning because there needs to be more high end zones spread out over a larger space. But this game was basically the first mmorpg, thus less complex spaces.

I think two teams could work on Red because the only people are playing are a small community, so the rules may be different for a new red.

TLP is PvP... the only way PvP can be fun in EQ... where you fight other players over content... this was part of what made EQ so amazing... and it’s been completely removed on P99.... it feels so good to have groups who are completely on board with training groups who intentionally steal your rares. Or having a wizard Invis up in someone else’s camp to snipe their rare. As a Cleric I’ve had to load my nuke several times to help my group stand their ground and I love it...

This feels more PvP oriented than WoW

I wish I could think of a better example of, "Just because everyone does _____, does it mean _____ is awesome." But all I can think of is McDonalds, not a perfect example.

literal pack warfare, primal hunter gather adventurers roaming and stealing from each ohter like wolfes.

cap pve mob exp/day and make pvp a separate limit. same bar though.

have you guys thought maybe if we just realized bush did 9/11 we could enjoy ourselves on p99 red more?
