The lack of an official response from the rest of Clue's leadership goes to show that they either are incompetent, don't care, or that they also steal from the rest of the members of Clue. Either way, I don't understand why Clue still has so many active players.

Another suspicious event in that raid - Vambraces of Harmony dropped and were won by a Clue druid. The body disappeared before he could log over to druid and loot it. Ensuing 30 minutes of whodunnit and speculation that DB ninja-looted the item leads to threats of petitions. I’d love to find out if Clue is wrapped up in more scandal, but Bvmmey didn’t want to submit a petition about it... hmmmmm

Sadly I read through this entirely finally this morning while waiting for repops. Interesting post of his around same time

Should definitely have the winner make a post on the petition forums along with any logs showing they won it. GMs can look up who looted it, move them from whoever looted it to the winner, as well as take action against the account of the person that ninja looted them.

Also, what is Bummey's druid name? Does he have any other alts we should look out for?

His druid is named Esperi and he has has a shadow knight aswell.

When I was a noob on the server a clue officer recruited me on my 57 bard and told me that clue did a weekly HoT and sky raid and that all loot was randomed amongst those who could use on their main.

After 2 weeks they finally got a HoT raid together which was going ok until a plate BP dropped. At this point the raid leaders decided to award the BP to a warrior alt of an officer because "it was in the best interest of the guild to have a well geared tank". Needless to say I left the guild shortly after and have had more bad run ins with members of clueless than any other guild.

Clue is easily the worst guild on the server in many ways and if you're just an average member looking to do some raid content literally any other guild will be a much better experience for you.

I had a similar experience with Clue. I joined them sometime between 1-1.5 years ago and within the first few days a cleric needed Ixiblat for his epic. A Cloak of Flames dropped and I was excited to be able to /random 5000 on it since I was a 55 warrior without a haste item (or any good gear for that matter).

A few minutes went by, the corpse disappeared, and the next thing I know one of the officers (I forget his name; it could have been Bvmmey but I don't know) thanked everyone for coming out and it seemed like the raid was over. I asked my group members what happened to the CoF and no one knew. Eventually, someone said that they saw that same officer loot it. No one knew where he went; apparently he logged out. It was at that time that I decided I needed to leave Clue.

The biggest shock to me was how no one else seemed to care.

Hi

Today is the 2 week mark for the video, meaning it is your last day to watch it on Twitch.
If there's enough interest I can upload it to youtube but I think the hype is starting to fade and the memes are swiftly drying up.

Here is the link to the last remaining highlight - https://www.twitch.tv/videos/326188748
Save it locally if you want, it's a part of P99 history as the greatest use of Bind Sight ever.

The full length video already vanished, but it only lasts about 20 more seconds anyway.
If you notice around 1:38, i typed 'any officers online atm?' to deal with what i just saw as low-key as possible. I wasn't certain what to do at the time cause I didn't know what the book did, I didn't know who Bummey was, and I knew my stream was recording (if you look at 1:50, I say "did anyone else see that? because that was on. . ." I didn't want to say it but i meant that was on recorded video - i could review it later)

You can see the last thing that happens in the video is someone messaging me 'whats up' and so i told my stream I'd be right back and spoke with some officers, decided to hold onto the video until I formed a plan of action, and turned my stream back on to focus on the rest of the raid.

i will try to upload it to youtube some time this week when I have time - I've got the video locally so there's no rush.

Thought it would be a good way to get the lay of the land while getting a few upgrades. They called a kael raid showed up on my druid they didn't have a 60 slower. So I told an officer hey if I bring my 60 shaman to buff/slow I can still roll on leather right? He assured me I could, so I do. Leather arms drop and they said mains only roll, so I roll. I get tells saying my roll doesn't count I'm on a chain wearer. I was the only main there trying to get leather so they ended up negating me and greed rolled it off in front of me. I thusly removed myself and that was like two weeks into being tagged.

Really interested as to why we haven't heard from any Clue officers about this and Bummey completely disappearing as soon as this went public. Certainly doesn't seem to bode well for the leadership as a whole, and not just the one person that's been highlighted in the posted video. It's also so strange so many people continue to stay in Clue even after this has been so well publicized.

The leadership of Clue is also Clueless (https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/5/5a/Clueless_film_poster.png). Last week I was camping Stormfeather and an officer from Clue dropped in (Epiced Ranger). After he awkwardly sat there for 15-20 minutes without saying anything, I engaged in conversation and asked if he would like to be put on the list. Immediately after I hit "Enter" we got an EQ. The officer asked me what it meant to be put on the list. I was typing out my reply regarding how lists work, and that there was someone ahead of him on the list, all while killing SF.

SF died and the Clue officer got pissed at me for handing the camp off to my "friend" who wasn't even there when SF popped. I was polite in my replies, but the Clue officer stormed off and refused to respond to me.

How does an officer in any guild not know camp rules? And why do they act like children when they are politely informed of the rules?

Sounds like the old OOT AC thing again. How can you say you're in the queue if you're on an alt in Crushbone?

Queues should work in terms of the next person (at least) being there ready to take over whenever the camper gets his item.

I personally think this is a blessing in disguise. I'd use this as an opportunity to talk to some other guilds close to your own progression or approach some of the other established alliances that won't rob you blind in the process. There are literally dozens of guilds with raiding aspirations and Velious requires high numbers to successfully raid so guilds merging or allying with one another is mutually beneficial.

I remember on live, a guild leader I was under, Cassaric IRC, pulled a few dubious things, such as roping my shaman in to the hole to help him and his wife, then refusing to let me roll on a book that dropped. He didn't even need it for his main gear set; it was for his resist set or something.

Anyway, the reason I recall this, is because in the end I was in this guild with a bunch of irl friends and it was easier to stay and do content together than it was to leave and all manage to get into some other new guild together.

Perhaps Clue turn a blind eye in the name of camaraderie.

Bvmmey apparently ghosting may mean it is expedient to stay for the mean time.

GM intervention unnecessary. Public shaming still works (with hilarious bindsight video). Dude is basically infamous enough now that he will never be trusted again (by the 5% of the server population that looks at the forums).

(by the 5% of the server population that looks at the forums).

Although only a fraction of the population look at the forums, people are constantly shouting and /ooc-ing things like "book not up" and "book up?" Some confused player usually asks what that means, which serves to continue to spread Bvmmey's reputation across the server.

so much hate over meaningless pixels
This, in my opinion, is a moot argument. I will try to explain below. (first with a TLDR)
Essentially, your statement (1) fails to account for the time invested in pursuit of hedonism (desire for pleasure - i.e. playing video games generally); (2) the community's consensus that it was a slimy thing to do; (3) the subjective reality of value in the game.

5K plat, an epic item, a 10 hour spawn, etc. Call it what you will, the object is not the focus - The act is. Why?

1) It is indicative of past/unseen behaviour.
Without missing a beat, he snuck around the outside wall of the dungeon, up the ramp, and b-lined it to the book. He knew where he was going, he knew what he was after. This was very clearly not his first run. Who knows how many rogues have needed it and the book was 'not up.'
That is time he has robbed from them. People dedicate a considerable amount of energy and time into 'meaningless pixels' - many players clocking hundreds of hours into this game. Consider the time spent in EQ in light of opportunity costs as well. By your logic, why play games at all? It's all meaningless by that standard. But the time is spent, and what the player has to show for it may hold more meaning to them than your statement gives credit to.
This is evidenced by players returning to raid the same dungeon for weeks on end, hoping that sweet upgrade they want will drop. There is a difference between wanting an item and it not dropping or it drops but you lose the roll, and having the opportunity to gain the item completely robbed from you in the first place. (i.e. ninja looting) Lawyer questing is so popular because of these kinds of conflicts.

2) The behaviour is universally abhorred.
With full credit to the propaganda and smear campaign, Bummey's reputation is likely the lowest on the server atm. Not only the forums, in game, on twitch, on reddit... His own guild has fractured and is swiftly deteriorating because they do not want to be associated with his theft. These are community responses to his behaviour.
If there is collective disdain towards the act, clearly there is more to it than 'meaningless pixels.' While a part may just be band-wagoning trolls looking to join in on the fun meme of the month, the mockery has become so widespread because of how blatantly against the social contract lying and stealing is seen to be.
(If anything, the fact that such a mundane object was stolen makes it worse - how skewed does your moral compass have to be to steal something so trivial? Again, the book is not the focus, the act is.)

3) Subjective value, my dude. (personal attack)
I get it, you ride a pegasus on 8th level of plane of sky. You have ascended beyond the plebs and attach no concern to such trivial matters as this. Your horse is the highest. So why weigh in at all? Just to belittle the hot-topic of the masses? To end this savagery and help us all realize that truly, there is no reason to care about some 10 hour spawn on a private server of a 20 year old game?
Who are you to place value? Who are you to say what matters and does not. Evidently, this matters to many. Were you at the raid? Have you had items stolen that you needed? Were you ever mad that someone stole your rare-mob camp while you were there for hours killing place holders? Your experiences speak for you and you alone - do not presume you have a right to lessen the interests of others, not dictate where they place their value.

4) Divine intervention
Not relevant but I just wanted to say how absolutely fuggin CRAZY the timing was for all of this to take place. How random that he walked by me as he did. How insane that milliseconds before he said book not up, he was asked what the book was for - imagine if he didn't say anything and waited to come back to camp? What if he decided to take a different route?
It baffles me, dudes - it is easily the most improbable set of circumstances I have ever had the pleasure of seeing. I cannot come to terms with how unlikely that was to have happened. I don't believe in a God, but damn... sometimes this shit makes me wonder.

Okay back to non meaningless things ;)

After careful review of the incident, it came to light that indeed at the time that Bummey stated "book not up," the book was, in fact, not on the pedestal and consequently, not up.

(crowd begins to gasp and murmur, one woman faints and a large man turns away in disgust)

Settle down. I understand, I understand. The reality of the matter was that in a purely technical sense, Bummey did not lie! But we must also consider the facts leading up to the book not being up - that is where our focus must stay!

I think we should welcome him back, but, like, slut-shame him Hester Prynne-style. Make him carry around a red tome, book of the rings or something, in his offhand for 7 years.

Make him live in the woods outside Kelethin and perform tailoring tasks, making the nicest clothes for others but keeping only the blandest and least decorative attire for himself. Make him fall into line, thereby making his every action an out-Puritaning of the most Puritan of p99 constituents.

He should relinquish the tome of discord unto the priest, bearing the shame of a red name, and upon his entry to a zone a dedicated broadcaster NPC needs to shout "book not up". It's the only reasonable way.

I was told when I joined that a single post in RNF is -500 DKP, a second post would be reviewed and possible removal from the guild.

Restricting free speech over the fear of losing pixels in a 20 year old game is pretty damn creepy/culty. If this forum was really that taboo, why would the GMs have created it in the first place? Context is key here. Sure I could maybe see punishment for certain types of bad behavior but a blanket RnF ban is asinine.

I feel for those over at Tempest. Been in several controlling guilds like this over the years and it's never fun. Remember, we all play for fun (I hope).

Wonkie

look man if Tempest knows their members will embarrass the guild, it's a good thing to censor them

Nexii
11-10-2018, 11:59 PM
The censoring goes beyond just RnF though. In game they aren't allowed to /say, /ooc, /tell, and so on outside of guild. EQ is supposed to be a social game. Censoring all speech is the most asocial thing I can think of. It's the antithesis of what the game is supposed to be about.

Put another way, AM hasn't had many players that have stepped over the line to embarass the guild. A few got bans for GM-targetted stuff, but that goes across all guilds lately. Anyways I doubt most of the Tempest commoners are really any different and could be trusted.

I keep getting banned reasons that make no sense. Last time for saying that Sirken banned a member of AG from OOC chat for laughing at tempest training themselves. This really happened so I dont know why I was banned for saying it. The official line was "implying staff favoritism" or some such shit. This was all in RnF... seems like a great place to laugh at Tempest training themselves in ToV.
