I played in season 1, and saw more pvp in the month or so I played than in the last year i had played R99.

It's classic as far as zones and drops go...except there are custom zones and you can buy gear with pvp points kind of like how wow battlegrounds work.

Its casual and easy to exp, I would for sure say give it a chance, it is very fun while it lasts.

You'll have more fun in the first two months than years on red99. It's all about PVP. Also helps since theirs essentially teams, and of course your guild buds. Last season was very fun for the first two months. Yes, the shit dies down with the level tier increases. Once we saw level 50 , it shortly died afterwards.

Honestly, they should just wipe the shit every 3 months. It's definitely a fun server, though. I was hesitant initially when I tried it , but 200+ people did last season. Apparently, we even broke records in population. I believe this season is going to be bigger than last season, so it's a perfect time to try it out.

Everyone is at least 2 boxing. They have safe zones that about 75% of the online population afk in, which includes all the buff bots. From the Nexus safe zone people port in fully buffed looking for kills before fleeing back to safety in the Nexus.

It is an interesting model short term but fizzles out quick. I don't see this season being as big as the last once since I think about everyone the server could have hoped to try it already tried it. The vocal minority that think it is a blast will be back while a big chunk already moved on to never return.

The nexus is in, every char is given a no drop item at creation that allows you to port to the nexus (high cast time so you can't bail from combat with it).

The nexus teleports you to different areas of classic world and some custom zones along with the bazaar to buy items from players and use the PvP point merchants.

Also, buffs are given out by guards and unless it has changed some of the guard buffs are 50+ spell buffs that players can't even get.

There were people going out trying to die in PvP since losers also received points and you spawn with all your gear. You can earn your Epic by just running around and losing or a full group can kill their own box or farm noobs at port in.

Maybe there was some SolB pvp down the road at max level for Nagafen or something but I don't even know if anyone was still around at that point. You are stuck in classic era at level 50 but people are running around with Kunark/Velious gear they earned by losing in PvP.

if you die in pvp you get 1 ticket with a 10 minute cooldown on getting another ticket. If you kill a player you get 3-9 tickets based on the level of that player and how high ranked they are. next season should also award everybody in the group tickets. so it will be player dies gets 1 ticket and the other team gets a total of 9-20 tickets. so DONT DIE

Anyone feeding for epic was publicly shamed. That's 250 deaths in a row. Pretty damn tall order....

It takes an astronomical high amount of consistent dying to rush an epic (basically you need to die every 10 minutes on the lockout timer). You look like a complete piece of shit and get treated accordingly.

The only people I saw actively trying to do this was solo players because they were shameless. Some losers might get epic, some of devn00bs friends im sure get items for paying server costs-- these types of players were never a factor.

I never saw anyone with bullshit gear do anything to lower the quality of the PvP, since its group centric. Then again, we had other stuff to worry about, like 20 fully geared SK's with a burst DPS of 1k+ with the Spear spell (Luclin) + HT, + Lifeleech (No Cooldown In Luclin? Or custom fun prank someone was playing)+ 300+ damage overbuffed steroided melee round.

Fuck epic, SKs were bashing heads in at level 20 with Gatorsmash Maul. No idea if the melee formula was tweaked sub-50. I know lvl 50 got a small formula tweak that cut like 30-50 dmg.

A few epiced flunkies paled in comparison to the above.

The biggest issue is that you die and there is no reason to not just run back in and try to kill someone before you die again. Yes, there will be people in groups of 6 getting more points by killing solo players at port in but there will also be solo SKs that run in and HT for a kill then afk for an hour in Nexus.

There is no way for the zek servers to last more than a few weeks with the that type of PvP environment.

The current zek rules are weird and a much different play style than the normal image/devnoob servers. Kringe's crew dominate those servers normally, where PvE/PvP are both a factor. They take that shit seriously and dominate the PvE side of that server due to knowing everything about it and how it works on that server.

I think you probably would be one of the better players at this servers play style. It is a low strategy, low time investment, higher player skill with more benefits from having bigger guilds than the previous servers.

The last zek server was the first one I saw that their numbers weren't enough due to other guilds being bigger. Normally owning towns isn't as big of a deal and they excel because they own the end game content. They were level 60 farming Velious when Exed and his crew were still leveling in Oasis on the last server I played. They knew what zones had better drops, what zones had hot spot exp bonuses, and they don't log off until they are far ahead.

I know a lot of people are excited for this season so I will stop talking down on it but I will be more excited when they go back to the style servers they had previously. Those can usually be fun for a good 2 months. I think this new server has some good mechanics that could be used to make future servers better. I like the level locks and classic era but I don't like the mix of kunark/luclin/velious content and point vendors. It really takes away from the classic zones.

I don't think pvp points/vendors are being polished much for Season 2.

I prefer they take at least a year to do work on that, the team is very limited on Zek and making dramatic changes to gameplay probably isn't a good idea since they have only had a few short summer months to work on it. Keyword summer.

never seen a hacker on zek in my life. I rocked more hacks on red99 back in the Reagan era. zek uses a custom client so its a little more difficult since you cant just get some public hacks.

I'd say maybe 2-3 people have access to hacks on zek. and I have never seen any proof that anyone is using hacks on zek to date.

most people on zek don't box pvp, since for certain classes it wasn't necessary or a really bad idea. We rocked about 90+ population of individual players, more than red at launch.

Can confirm will be back on Zek for Season 2. The first season was legit for a solid 3 month period. If they stagger the levels a bit slower, expect 5-6 months. Sure, there was a stall as accomplishments were completed at the end, but we all know there's nothing like server rush and that time period when early classic items are BIS.

You'll earn points at all levels for kills that you can save up and spend on sick shit eventually that you would normally need to time sink and PvE for. C'mon, anyone still around at this point has earned the basic conveniences that Zek offers: Nexus, ports to main zones for quick assembly/counters, EXP boost, a corpse summoning npc, responsive devs, etc.

Or feel free to spend days farming faction on Red99 for your quest piece.

Boxing toons in pvp is going to get your boxes YT'd and shit talked. People have rolled 12 deep 6 ppl 2 boxing and get steamrolled by 3 non boxers. Non moving targets get knocked down like bowling pins. Boxing is mostly for buffing and pve, which you can get 90% of gear from pvp.

I haven't had problems with people cheating or Mq tracking me, although I'm sure some use it, it simply doesn't effect 99% of pvp.

Ranger has always been a fun class, I don't really recall seeing too many effective rangers due to poor itemization. Same with monks, having mandatory pvp items tied to casino, everyone gravitated to SK's as they had the best pvp toolkit for a kill based leaderboard.

Priests definitely need buffs, having a druid or shaman on your team that isn't boxed is basically playing with a handicap instead of having another SK, Mage, Wiz, Rog, etc.

bow kiting was viable if you knew what you were doing with just Underfoot. even a piece of shit could probably beat anyone 1v1 you just have to keep the opponent interested in the fight and make sure he doesn't get whooped too hard and runs to a zoneline.

Konstance (another rallos zek 99 somebody triple OG) was pretty good about baiting fights and keeping his opponent in the fight while doing bow work.

Fair assessment of rangers, there was a guy who played ranger from Day 1 and did alright. Most of the bow kites were going in Misty (during the Vale ticket boom) and then East Commons during the GM event status of the zone.

There was also South Karana pvp at whip camp. Whip was actually a pvp boon because it gave you another interesting venue to check for pvp. Assuming the shitter didn't just run into paw and plug.

But Zek was pretty good about people coming to fight. Plugs were uncommon. Most of R99 was playing under fake/stolen names I remember us thinking that was cute. It decreased the plug factor so I fully support you guys all rerolling under fresh names again and denying who you are and pretending to be other people.

Outside of Dentists, we had a few splinter crews last season. a few of the dukes life partners were playing. saw Dreadtokker around a lot he was a big factor on this box doing 18 hour Frog Crown shifts. he provided real time updates of what the duke was doing and what happened in Archage


plenty of viability for 3-4 guys to do a lot, but not at Primetime unless you are smart and careful and familiar with how people move around the server and the different zones.

You are right though most people just ignored them. They didn't matter. BGC riled them up when we took Felwithe and had the first city. Then they took Freeport.

Nothing was more funny then when I relinquished Felwithe. The tears were great. =P

i remember this, it was near the PoD lift under kelethin, rekt 6 BGC. we were pretty bad in the 20 bracket not gonna lie, owned server 20-40, then fell into the monotony with the other guilds.

i talked alot of shit but i genuinely did it because it ended up getting more pvp to appear, Grandpa was the only dava to be relevant tho. Tallboys zergfest but BGC also zergfested. Kringe crew taught BGC alot about pvp in 1-20 bracket, BGC comin back. I hope they put guilds back in.Call the Donkeys, pour them Tall Boys, and rally the Bad Girls.

xKoopa u don't need a second install, its Titanium. You can use the official patcher which enables reversions from P99 to Zek. but it does use a different .exe file and spell file obviously.

Again, the official Zek patcher system should allow reversion between P99 files and Zek files.

Worst case you just make a folder, take the files Zek would change and toss them in a file on your desktop and just copy them back manually. Or back up your entire file if you are really sweating it.

The patcher was designed to allow reverting back and forth because people bitched about the lack of easy access between P99 and the image box.
