Necrious is good, I would definitely say better than me. He and I regularly conversed and we traded secrets/tactics often.

DD is good (some people would say he isn't, but truth is, he is leagues above the average necro) I've hit him up for tips/tricks and I think he has asked me about things on an occasion or two.

The rest are unknown, except Visceral who was better than some of the necros we had back when I played. I can't really say he was as good as me, necrious, or DD just because I've never got to see him do anything. I did, however, give him several tips.

As far as IB necromancers, the only ones I can remember right off hand would be Trystych and Atheyik (sp?)

Another good Necromancer would have been Miley (who was a well known VD necromancer, main'd a cleric called Bubbles).

Objectively, you can look at the logs for the encounter and see that Imba put a single mallet charge into CT at the exact same second as Domjot took aggro. Since player logs only round to the nearest second, we can assume that Imba and Domjot were, at max, half a second from getting FTE -- Domjot just happened to win. You cannot possibly express such timing as malicious intent, unless you're just out to blindly crucify, which I assure myself you are.

I solo'd some when it was possible, due to FD mechanics at the time. After the changes it was no longer possible.

Also, back during that time, it was possible to charm undead, FD and then let them beat the shit out of each other with little risk.

Oh ya, know it was re-creatable, I just give Athiyk a lot of credit because as far as I know he kind of discovered and perfected a lot of the more complex mechanics manipulation strategies on necros. Him and Shiho, at least back in the day, seemed to be the two necros who were always pushing the limits of what could be done. Reminds me a lot of what some of the A-Team enchanters were doing in HS. Now I'm sure there is a whole slew of enchanters who can rip up every part of HS, but the guys who had the idea and took the time/risk to figure out how to do it are always going to be deserving of a respect imo.

EQ as a game isn't about who can do what, because once something is done it is generally easy enough to recreate. Its like people who can play every Hendrix song on guitar; they may be accomplished guitarist, but Hendrix was special because what he did was unique when he did it. I know a lot of people talk about how EQ is an 11 year old game and nothing new happens, but that is bullshit. imo the best players here are way better than the best players on live and have really pushed what is possible in the game to the limits.

I'm not saying you don't, because your list of 3 was pretty damn solid, but most people who play here who think they're good don't have the knowledge to distinguish between good players and great players, because there is a difference. Personally outside of Monks, Bards, Enchanters, Necros, Shaman (iffy), and Warriors I don't think I could judge other classes really aside from saying someone is good or bad. Bards in particular most people don't know shit about.

But yea, with necros, enchanters, and shaman, it is really all about knowing how to use your tools to manipulate mechanics, monks too but in a different way. Athiyk was just a beast because he always seemed to be that guy who found unconventional ways to do shit before anyone else.

By the time I got around to doing it, it had already been done by a few people (not very many). I'm not saying that doing it was easy either, the hardest part wasn't the killing, but knowing when to get up there and not gain unwanted aggro (at least to me).

I give them all the credit they deserve. Most of my techniques I stole from necros or enchanters (asked or watched and enchanters play similar to necros when it comes to charming). I don't think I am the best and I don't think it's really easy to say who is the #1 best either.

I do know the names of the guys who have been brought up very often by other necros when swapping tips/tricks though. I may not have seen them play, but I've adopted tactics from them, so they must have been good lol.

Humwawa was really good

Necros were just op during the early stages of the server, especially in gukbottom or vs any undead. FD insta clear aggro, broken charisma calculations for necros giving long static timers on charms. Feign death not breaking charm. Screaming terror being op and still op as fuck for interrupting casts or recharming.
The biggest thing for a while was the npc faction wars that broke out often from charmed mobs breaking while feigned; which was easily exploitable. I used that method to snipe the ghoul lord a couple times as you only needed to land the last hit to get the kill which was easy with big undead nukes. I had thought of using that method in pofear for clearing boogeys too, but I was too afraid I'd start a zone wide faction war and fuck the zone up or something.

Shit I was soloing frenzy, arch magi, and ass/sup and holding all 3 camps down at like lvl 46 during the dead hours when server pop was like 40ish and <200 at prime time before I took a long break from p99.

But I remember Necrious (it was a long time ago though so that might be wrong) being the one to tell me some of those tricks that I hadn't already figured out when I first got high enough to solo it myself so he gets my vote along with humwawa

/shrug, credit where credit is due, and nothing I haven't told him myself already. I'd say similar things about other good players. Guys like Svenn, Lorean (know someone else showed him the ropes, but solo artist challenge is legit), Astuce, Jete, Emil (if he wasn't using any 3rd party software), and a few other people who've played here. There are a ton of good players on this server, but definitely some who stand out for the creative ways they figure out how to manipulate mechanics or contributed to raising the general level of play on this server.

Objectively, you can look at the logs for the encounter and see that Imba put a single mallet charge into CT at the exact same second as Domjot took aggro. Since player logs only round to the nearest second, we can assume that Imba and Domjot were, at max, half a second from getting FTE -- Domjot just happened to win. You cannot possibly express such timing as malicious intent, unless you're just out to blindly crucify, which I assure myself you are.

TMO had no intention of engaging CT when Domjot took aggro. Imba had a single mallet into CT and did not have low HP aggro. There are no logs from any TMO player that show evidence that their players tried to draw aggro from Imba (which could have simply been achieved by 2 mallet charges).

Any engage, as it should be second nature to most tanks, suggests that you'd blow a full mallet into any target -- TMO never did this?

This just made me think of how brilliant FFXI was with their job system (which I've always thought was brilliant). Since 1 character could switch to any other 'class' at will and in the early days of FFXI it was extremely time consuming to unlock content (going through the storyline quests and the like) there was very little point in having more than one character. Because of this it made raid targets that much more of a challenge because people simply didn't have multiple characters they could camp at various targets. This meant if two or more mobs were in window then people would have to choose which ones to camp and then race to the next after one pops.

Of course, this was also closer to the case in classic EQ simply because people didn't have the time/knowledge to level so many characters up (or the ability to own multiple accounts without paying big monthly fees and the ability to legitimately purchase those accounts with platinum)
