![]() P99 was good? I do. 2k pop, EC tunnel was absolutely jumping, raid scene was healthy (minus the raid rules and certain officials who are no longer around), forums were lit, people were macequesting. Abacab was playing a highly entertaining game of cat and mouse in game and on the forums
Devs, follow this guide to restore p99 to its former glory, for great success and 1000 years happy ancestor good luck: -wipe everything. Open p99 purple server (blue and red combo) and tweak code so that you can flag for pvp if you want, but otherwise play the game the way it was intended to be played -spend the blooming onion budget on hiring assassins to delete thj devs (that server sucks anyway) -move p99 server hosting to china. Can probably pay for it by selling our data which they’re going to get from corporations and congress anyway -revert all non-classic elements to their intended classic function for better or worse- stand on principal

![]() I guess when eq pvp isn’t trash as a fundamental thing
Purple server would solve that. The special needs players could flag pvp but still play with normal people while having the option to run back and forth with auto attack on when they see another red name

![]() Eq pvp is real fun at low and mid levels when there's item loot and ppl aren't deleveled and decked out in no drop gear.

![]() Was thinking about this just now and how ridiculous the lack of a catchup mechanic is. It's not classic for players to have millions of platinum because they have been hard stuck in Velious for 15 years. Game would be much healthier if it had a hard reset once every 5 years.
1 year classic, 2 years kunark, 3 years velious, server wipe, starts over in classic etc. This could obviously have problems too, so ideally you would have two separate servers on different timelines. Because how many people are going to start playing on a server that's about to wipe in 6 months? But it would be less of an issue if the alternative server was just getting ready to enter Velious.

That being said the actual PVP in EQ is really bad. The only PVP I've ever actually enjoyed in an MMO is WoW, and Rift (briefly). Rift PVP was essentially a copy/pasta of WoW, although it lacked rated PVP of any kind, and the game died shortly after I discovered it so I only got like a month of enjoying it. If there were ever a future EQ style MMO that comes out, despite the fact I'm a WoW PVP fanatic, I would prefer future EQ style MMO to kind of ignore PVP. Like have it as an option, sure, but don't balance the game around it. Part of what makes EQ so amazing is how grossly imbalanced all of the classes are. Almost every class sucks in one way, but is OP in another way. In games like WoW where they balance the game around PVP, almost every class ends up becoming identical to one another. Even as a Rogue main, I think it's ridiculous that Rogues can heal better than Paladins. I think it's ridiculous that Paladins can now sprint, and blind like Rogues. Classes need to be unique, otherwise it just evolves into a game of playing whatever is FOTM rather than playing a character you enjoy for it's unique playstyle and gimmicks.

![]() They should just make an ultra hardcore permadeath server with like half of the exp and drop percentage rates.
